You know, I might want to

- work on my Drama external assessment
- work on my english external assessment outline, as it's due tomorrow
- read Plath's "Colossus" and annotate it
- write four more entries in my journal for TOK
- be otherwise productive

but instead I'll recap my weekend with Jess.

The flights there were fine, and nothing too exciting happened on the way. I flew into Charlotte NC for the bazillionth time, and sadly had to do what I did the first time I ever went there: cross from one side of the airport to the polar opposite side in under an hour. It's long, y'all. Consequently I was unable to get lunch and had to eat M&Ms, which, for those who know me, is not so much of a loss.

When we landed, however, I had to face my fear of cab rides. I luckily was picked up by this super nice guy named Marty, who chatted with me the whole ride there. He was oldish, but super super nice. He also gave me his card so he could pick me up today to bring me back to the airport. Nice guy.

Got to the school and there was Jess! I haven't seen her since last March, and it was so weird but nice to see her. We totally skipped the awkward part and just started hanging out right away.

Over the course of my visit we watched

- The Quill is Mightier (Xena)
- The Bitter Suite (Xena)
- The Passage pt. I (Alias)
- the sister mission in Detente (Alias)
- The Orphan (Alias)
- Welcome to Liberty Village (Alias)
- a Shakira concert on DVD
- The Sound of Music
and some of Cruel Intentions at the "sleepover."

I kinda loved the dining hall O-Hill, but that's mainly because they offer you dessert any time of day, and an endless variety of food. Jess promised me that the novelty wears out quite quickly.

I took a tour Saturday morning. We had a really nice guide named Maggie, and she looked like Téa Leoni. She was very enthusiastic and informative. And the campus of UVa is absolutely beautiful.

I had a running tally between UMD and UVa, and I think they broke even. I liked the layout of dorms better at UMD, the stalls of the bathroom at UVA but the showers were better at UMD, the dining hall better at UVa but the food better at UMD. I liked them both.

Saturday night there was a "sleepover" in Jess's RA's room, which was basically a lot of junk food and chick flicks, and her RA was absolutely a doll. And? She said I looked like Jen Garner, and Jess was a witness, and it was completely random and it made me all warm inside.

All in all I had a great time. Jess is lots of fun, and she kept me warm by lending me sweaters and the like and giving me her guest meals and it was lovely. YAY JESS.
