Dear Florida DMV,

You make so that when you're under 21, your license goes up and down, instead of side-to-side. As my 21st birthday is nigh, I went to your website to see if there was any information on how to get this changed once I am actually 21. And lo, there is nothing. NOTHING. It's like I'm making it up that anything changes on your 21st birthday. HELLO. I get rid of the bar that's all UNDER 21 UNTIL 12-22-2008. I get a real license that goes the correct way and not up and down! Lots of awesome things happen! So way to fail, DMV. I can't believe I have to go to the office.

(Possibly in Gainesville, even! My mom wants me to change my address to my apt at school. Who is going to take me to the DMV, woman? No one, that's who!)

No love,
Madi

PS: I hate Balzac, but I suppose that's none of your concern.

on your 21st birthday, when they swipe your ID, the little swiper thing says "happy birthday!"

you don't need to get a new one until they expire.

more importantly: where will you be when you turn 21?? please say miami.

LOL, where does this swiper say that, at the DMV? I know I don't need a new one, but I want a real, honest-to-God license. With a better picture.

FUCK YES I WILL BE IN MIAMI. Where will YOU be, Miss Thang?

I will be getting you wasted :):):)

Yeah, I got a new one a few days after my 21st birthday, because I wanted to get rid of the "UNDER 21" stuff right before I went to Las Vegas. I remember I went in person, but that was to get a new picture, too.

If you go online and browse around the "Renew License" section, it should be there, I would think.

BTW, if you change your license address to your school apartment, it means your voting district changes, too. Which is a good/bad thing, depending on how you feel.

You'd think it'd be under 'renew,' but you'd be wrong. I went all over that site last night and nothing.

Eh, I don't so much care if my voting district changes, just because the main election's already happened, and I can't see myself caring about the little elections in Gville or in Miami, so.

I hate Balzac too.

In Connecticut, I just took the license to the DMV with no appointment or anything, and they made a new one. There was no info on the site because it turned out to be a no-brainer, despite my suspicions to the contrary before I went.

Happy early Birthday, just 'cause I want to be the first to say it. :D

It's not so much that I hate him that I think he's kind of a loon, and he uses really long sentences with really big words.

Yeah, that wouldn't fly here. You need an appointment or you wait for nine thousand years. And also, I think that it might be a no-brainer but the DMV will make it a brainer because they can. Arg.

Thank you! You are indeed the first.

Yay for me being punctual! :D (There might be something coming for you in the mail soon... though probably not in time for your birthday/Christmas now, but we shall see.)

Nooooo, how can you hate Balzac? He's all epic and tragic and...really, Le Colonel Chabert may be my favorite for-class French book ever.

(I realize I'm in a minority over here...)

It's more that I hate him because he uses big words in GINORMOUS sentences and I have a paper due tomorrow by noon based on two of his works. His stories are good! Just, ack, Balzac.
