Oct. 27th, 2005 05:40 pmOh, lord, the glory of power.
Not that I have it yet, mind you. We finally gave up and drove to Orlando because living without power is ridiculous. I'm at my dad's friend Larry's house, and he is without AIM or AOL or any other form of communication, and his computer EATS AIM express, so maybe I'll catch some of you later at my uncle's house. Or something.
The power went out at like, 6 on Tuesday morning, and right now they've only gotten 1/3 of my county back with power, so we figure by next wednesday i'll definitely have power. But if I wait that long I might just commit suicide.
It's miserable.
I spent Tuesday night at Tata's- they have two crazy big generators and we had light and we watched American Pie on her DVD player, and we had a good time, but back home it's just boring. Luckily not hot, though.
I've told most people about my encounter with the scary green lights on the morning of the hurricane, but that's the only good hurricane story I've got. Other than that, we saw about twelve electrical van things going down in the direction of home on our way up, come crazy fallen trees, and some overturned trucks.
I want power. I miss it so much. There are only so many novels I can read by flashlight. There are only so many times my mom, sister and I can read in a circle. (We're currently reading The Da Vinci Code aloud. It's not as fun as you would think.)
I'm grateful that we did so well during the storm- no damage to the house or anything- but I am so depressed without power. And I miss things being normal. I even want to go back to school, which has been cancelled until at least next week.

Date: 2005-10-27 02:57 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear you're okay, and your house/yard and stuff are okay.
Also, the DaVinci Code seems like it would be an awkward book to read aloud with your mom. :P

Date: 2005-10-27 03:21 pm (UTC)I called and I left a message on your machine (your home machine) -- I guess that's why you weren't there to answer it. :D
Hope all is well and you get power at home again soon!

Date: 2005-10-28 05:14 pm (UTC)And it IS an awkward book to read, but mostly because Mom and I know what's coming and we're just hoping we get the awkward chapters and not my poor sister.

Date: 2005-10-28 05:15 pm (UTC)*cries* My sister has a friend that NEVER lost power. I absolutely loathe, abominate and despise her.
