My life is fascinating.
1) Total number of books owned?
Um. I'm guessing a lot, because my bookshelf? it's kinda all full. I have books laying on top of other books, and balancing precariously in tall piles in front of other books, and in towers on flat surfaces, and in other various rooms of the house. So, yeah. A lot.
2) The last book I bought?
I want to say it was Sylvia Plath's Ariel, but it have been two X-Files books from the library for $2.
3) The last book I read?
Well, I kinda read several books at the same time. I read the third Anne of Green Gables- Anne of the Island, was it? I also read one of the Alias prequels that have Syd with Noah and other equally disturbing yet amusing things. And now I'm reading 'The Robber Bride' by Margaret Atwood.
4) 5 books that mean a lot to me?
- The Blind Assassin, Margaret Atwood. Absolutely the most thought-provoking and winding book I've ever read. I've read it about five times and I find new thing every time. It's amazing.
- Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier. The way this book is written, and the setting and the tone and the omnipresence of Rebecca... the book is just delightful from beginning to end, again and again and again.
- Fight Club, Chuck Palachniuk. It's so unique and fascinating.
- The Mystery of the Cupboard, Lynne Reid Banks. The whole thing about spirits in figures and those weensy little figures being animated by the cupboard and that key, and how things can be changed inadvertantly... awesome.
- Saratoga Trunk, Edna Ferber. Historic fiction about this determined chick who winds up with everything she wants in a different configuration than she'd expected. And she was played by Ingrid in the movie. Rock on.
