It's awful. Ever since I lost power in Katrina, I have been terrified of losing it again. So, today, knowing that I could lose power essentially any minute- it's SO horrifying. And anxiousy.

That said, we've done all the preparations that we usually ignore- doing dishes and laundry, blow-drying hair, making coffee to put in the fridge, iPod and cell phones fulled charged- all in case the power goes out.

(Pleaaaaaaaaaase don't let the power go out, please.)

It was a great source of debate in school this week, while we were waiting for Wilma everyday- which would you rather have, an earthquake or a hurricane? Those in favor of hurricanes said it was so that you had time to prepare for it in advance and know what you were up against. Those in favor of earthquakes were for them for precisely that reason- you don't know they're coming, so you don't get to agonize over them.

Lord.

I'm a friend of Madi's -- she has no power at the moment, but she wanted me to post that she's fine after Wilma. There's some damage in her area, and a road by her house is blocked, but her family and the house itself are all fine. Her school and some other areas outside of her immediate neighbourhood were hit worse, though.

The storm came early this morning and woke her up, but all was well beyond that. She didn't know when the power will be back, but the storm is now out of Miami, so hopefully she'll be around soon.

Signing off for now, unless I hear anything else from Madi, [livejournal.com profile] xenaamber -- a.k.a. Jess, Not Madi :D.
