Jan. 11th, 2006 08:39 pmDear Jackson University,
I do not want to attend your university. If I wanted to move that far up north, I'd apply to FSU and have the chance of going to school with some friends. Sending me letters with random headings and locations to fool me into opening the mail doesn't intrigue me, it PISSES ME OFF. Stop WASTING POSTAGE ON ME.
For serious,
Me
Dear University of Southern Florida,
I what? I didn't fill out the residency affadavit? Are you on crack? Of course I did! It's a state school! I remember filling the damn thing out, don't be stupid! And now I have to do it by hand and MAIL IT? This sucks. The internet speeds things up,
Me.
Dear University of Florida,
I really really really really wanna be a Gator. I do. I want to be just like you and learn to love Gainesville and the teeny tiny cold town and the team and the colors and everything. I do. But GatorLink sucks like no other. You gave me a PIN and an ID. I wrote these down carefully. Then you told me those were temporary, so I created another. No big. Wrote those down too. But... everytime I try to check my status... you say I don't exist. Or, you say I do exist, but you still don't let me sign in. Why is that?
Much love, (but please, techies, do something)
Me
Dear Alias Team,
I know why you decided to make Laurenn a bad guy. I know that you all thought that we would all love Lauren so so so so much that we would be conflicted between wanting Vaughn to be with his sweet little wifey or, you know, HIS ONLY ONE Sydney, and that didn't happen. C'est la vie.
But making her evil was really lame. Case in point: "Breaking Point." Remember that episode? Lauren was all, I can't lie to the government! Michael, you can't lie for Sydney! Lindsey, I can't lie to the government! Self, I am conflicted! Remember? And how sure she was that Syd would be ethically treated, and how excited she was at the prospect of the Covenant's demise? And she was all adorably confused when Lindsey told her that she wouldn't actually watch Syd be tortured to watch that she was, oh, ethically tortured? And then she was like, heartbroken when Lindsey revealed he only chose to bring her along because he knew that her husband, Syd's boyfriend, actually helped Syd-the-fugitive leave the country and that would so look bad if anyone found out so go sit at the desk and keep your legs uncrossed, goddammit? And then when Daddy and Vaughn and Lauren went to Syd out, they were escaping and that fat not-crazy guy was shooting at them and then all of the sudden he was shot and then you panned over to see Lauren holding a gun and looking completely, utterly horrified, now that her blood innocence was lost? And then her like, holding on to Vaughn in a catatonic state because OMG she fired a gun?
Yeah. See, that Lauren? That was desperate housewife Lauren. And then suddenly... Cheap and Evil Lauren. But I mean... three episodes, man. Lauren killed Lazarey (without flinching, I might add) in 3.11 and that was 3.08. I know y'all don't read the scripts or watch the DVDs of earlier seasons usually but... but it was three episodes ago! The hiatus that winter was short!
So, um, please please please don't make some person who is very, very obviously not evil evil. And I don't mean like, for instance, when you made Sonia Braga evil. Because she was just subtly evil and horrible the whole time. Also, she looked it. See also just about every other villain on the show. Would a simple divorce've been so beyond your writing capabilities? Did we have to make her evil?
Although when she was good, she was very very good, but when she was bad she was better.
Easy on the eyeliner,
Me

I miss Lauren so bad. Laura and I were talking about this this morning, actually! And how, really, she was the trickiest and most masterful character because even the writers weren't onto the fact that she was evil. And that it was really really very good of Melissa to come back in season four just to play a corpse for ten seconds while David Anders cried on her, and therefore it's the least they could do to bring her back a little bit in season five. Come on guys! It's the last season! What have you got to lose?
