Today I shopped all the livelong day. For my efforts I got a prom dress and prom shoes.

The prom dress is a coral-y color, with beading along the neckline and up the straps. Through the miracle of outlets, we got a $370 dress for $130-something. That's awesome. The shoes are silver, and they need to have their straps adjusted, just like my black heels, because I apparently have freakishly narrow heels.

Though I hate (for real: hate, loathe, despise and abominate) shopping, I love hanging out with my mom. She's so much fun and she gets me. Who else could I get into a conversation about Nadia's age and Irina's infidelities from deciding a dessert with?

Also, driving a convertible on the highway means one needs scarves. So we wore scarves over our hair and it was very, very classy.

Refresh and you can see the top- the skirt of the dress just flows down, it's real simple and elegant.

I love simple elegant dresses. They're so GORGEOUS. Trust me, you'll be happy you got a dress that looks like an evening gown instead of screaming PROM DRESS OMG! :D

Oh, I know. We can't walking past stores that was all OMGPROMDRESSES! and I was like, I have no desire for a dress like that.

I'm very picky about ornamentation, but I really liked the simple beading. And it's so inobtrusive.

Simple beading looks nice. Beading all over the already gaudy skirt looks bad.

My sister was asking about your dress and how much it cost earlier.

It was expensive because we got it from a boutique... about $350, I think. Plus accessories, plus alterations. But it was a great big gown, so that's part of the cost -- lots of layers of tulle and stuff. Does yours need altering?

I'm getting lots of wear out of it, though, because the three-year-old girl I babysit has decided that it's my "princess dress" and so she begs me to wear it when I see her -- I wear the "Belle dress" and she wears her little Sleeping Beauty outfit, and we have princess parties. :D

See, I'm the total opposite. My mom was ecstatic that I had found a dress and I was all, oh. yay. a dress. Because I was happy I had a dress, and yes it was pretty but... it's a dress. Not that big of a deal.

But I like it a lot, so yay.

(And I think dresses and other girly things like that are going to be the best part of prom, too)
