I read some stranger's blog today, because it was linked on a blog I do read, and it was about Miami. The guy was born in raised in Miami, and he remembers the time when Miami was ruled by cocaine and how crazy the late 70s and early 80s were.
But the Miami he describes- it's not the way it is now. And the way he wrote about, it made it seem like I should never go there because the chances of me getting shot and killed are extremely high.
For the record:
- I have seen exactly one instance of the police questioning someone when it didn't involve speeding.
- I have never seen anyone but police officers with guns.
- I have never heard a gun being fired.
- I have never been offered cocaine.
- I have never seen someone do cocaine.
- I have never been offered drugs at all.
- I have never seen someone get shot.
- I have never seen drugs on the ground.
- There are areas of town you shouldn't go at night, but I'm pretty sure that's true of most cities in the country.
- Hispanics are not to blame for every single problem in Miami, believe it or not.
- If we are more like a foreign country, it's because we want to be that way.
Aaaaarg anger.
In other news, I shouldn't fail math, and I did 232 math problems in one night. Ollie is gone and I am sad. I go to see Nica next week and I am excited. I am fiiiiinally going to see Ugly Betty this week after two weeks without it. And... that's it.
