Saaaadly, I got all dolled up and prettisome in order to go to Adriana's house and see some friends I haven't seen in like, a year (namely, Philly) and then Adriana calls me and says mini-party cancelled because she had her family over and when they went to leave, they found that all the cars had been broken into. But when I told Addy that I made her brownies, she quickly said that she might be able to meet up with me tomorrow. And Philly did the same thing. Yes, my brownies are a prize, apparently.

At least now I get to watch Bringing Up Baby, which is a lot funnier than I remember. I hate slapstick but as of right now, the banter is making up for it. I'm glad it's Katharine Hepburn month on TCM.

Gaaaah, don't talk to me about Katharine Hepburn when I have to STUDY. In two days I will be FREE. I have the same opinion on "Bringing Up Baby" -- stupid plot, but they're so damn cute it doesn't matter.

Yay for your brownies! And how was the polenta?

Kind of a disaster. Good polenta, but the frying bit was insane. Frying is dangerous/em>.

Hence my terror of frying. :D You're braver than I for at least trying, though! I think the trick is to get and maintain the oil at the exact right temperature (375-ish) -- but I don't actually know how you do that, beyond frantically adjusting the heat every 30 seconds.

Hey, send me your mom's polenta recipe!

It is her 100th birthday on Saturday, you know! Hooray for Kate!

The more stuff you have in it, the less it pops at you, so you can turn up the heat, that's what I learned.

Remind me to later!

I know. I do so love Kate.

Last night they aired this rare interview with her on... Dick Cavett's (?) show, and it was the eeriest thing. She sounded exactly like my grandmother when she complained.

Yeah, but if you put too much in, the heat of the oil decreases too much and it doesn't fry crispy, it goes soggy.

Reminding you again!
