Jul. 26th, 2007 11:56 pmHAPPY BIRTHDAY,
non_horation! I hope it's great!
Work is better, now that I know more, but still hellish. I asked that this week be my last; they asked if I could work a few days next week. I said sure- so they gave me ALL DAY SUNDAY and MOST OF TUESDAY. Next week, btw, is tax-free week here in Florida, so it's going to be insane. I kind of hate them.
So I came home and hung out with Talisa and then I finished the Dr Zhivago miniseries.
Reasons I May Have Liked Dr Zhivago More This Time Around
- The first time I watched it, I was... 14ish? Under sixteen, anyway.
- I have an unnatural hatred for Julie Christie, who was in the original version I watched (the 1965 one with Omar Sharif.)
- I had a bizarre love for Geraldine Chaplin as Tonya Zhivago, which might have made me hate Julie Christie a wee bit more as Lara.
- I love Keira Knightley.
- My sister and I teased it mercilessly.
- We both also enjoyed it immensely.
- I got to see that Lara and Yuri as the OMG OTP that Boris Pasternak obviously intended. Because it was like Fate shipped them. Until Fate got tired and decided to fuck with them.
Reasons I Need to Figure Out What the Damn Plot of the Novel Was
- 1965 movie ended one way.
- 2002 TV version ended another way.
- I was COMPLETELY EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED at the end of the 2002 one. And I think they played fast and loose, probably to achieve said emotional decimation. Bastards!
- Maybe reading a soap opera-esque book that I know the plot of will make me read.
