Dear Atonement,

I tried. I tried so hard not very hard, because I failed, but I did try. I wanted to read you. Your plot was intriguing. Your prose was lovely. I cared, truly.

Unfortunately, I am now... unable to read books, apparently. I can't figure out what it is. The last full book I read was "The Debutante Divorcee" in New York over the summer. Other than that, I started that war book I really wanted to read, I started The Bourne Identity (and bought all three books) and I started Atonement. It's not that I don't have time. It's that... I don't know! I can reread favorite books just fine! I don't know what's wrong with me!

Plus, the movie is coming out really soon.

Forgive me, Atonement. Now the only things I read are textbooks and the odd magazine article in a magazine.

And lots and lots of words on the interwebs.

I found out that my poli sci paper which was due on Thursday is now due next Tuesday. While this initially prompted greaaaat excitement and rejoicing, I realized it made next week:

MONDAY: French exam, pt 1
TUESDAY: Poli Sci paper due, French test, potential French oral, Math test
WEDNESDAY: French exam, pt 2

Also, if I don't get like, an 80 on the math test, I might not pass the class. And now I'm all sick and nauseous about it.

I hate school.

Well... I just don't think Atonement is that good, so perhaps that's part of the reason you're struggling. *shrug* I have shitloads of schoolwork, too, if it's any consolation. I am exhausted and I hate work; and I'm looking forward to seeing you so much.
