Happy Leap Year!

In honor of this rare and unusual day, please leave a comment with some rare and unusual fact about yourself. Doesn't have to be super deep unless you want it to be. Did you win "Little Miss Cornstarch" when you were four? Teased mercilessly when you moved from the jungle to the big city for your lack of jellies? Lie about a scar to make it sound cooler? Let's hear it.

Long ago in high school I competed in a marching band contest at the Fiesta Bowl. (I was a pretty terrible trumpet player and an even more terrible marcher.) Thankfully for everyone involved, my marching days did not survive past graduation.

When I'm very sick, very sleepy or have been laughing very hard, my thumbs stop working properly. I can still move them, but I have no strength and really cannot grip things. It's been bad enough that I couldn't pick up a spoon, for instance. It always passes, so I don't worry about it.

I was thisclose to being a pageant kid.

My dance teacher and grandmother bugged the shit out of my mom to let me do child beauty pageants when i was four and five, and my dad just steadfastly refused to let me.

I could've been Miss Louisiana. *sniffle*

My eyes water chronically.

When I was born, one of my eyes (I forget which) had a malfunctioning tear duct, and it didn't produce tears. Eventually, I had some sort of eye surgery and eye-spring thing inserted in there . . . and alas, then I could produce tears properly. Now, though, both eyes are overactive in the tear-department. It's obnoxious, because my eyeliner runs really easily; or, if I turn my head to one side, tears just . . . drip out!

Wow, that is unusual. I would spaz out, but that's my go-to for every mildly unsettling body thing, because I am hypochondriac lite.

Scholarship program!

Someone approached my mom to get me to model as a kid, and I know a lot of girls that did when they were little.

I wish my eyes did that. Mine are like the effing sahara unless I'm crying.

A spring? I know you don't mean that which produces mountain water, but still, hee.

I have no idea. This was well before the Fiesta Bowl gained its revered status.

I have this long scar on the back of my leg which I obtained from slipping on a rock (whilst fishing) and cutting my leg open on an oyster. I was actually reaching for my fishing hook which was stuck and so I made this fabulous story up that the hook ripped my leg open and I had to have it surgically removed. This was in Grade 6, so it seemed more of a 'daring' story when I was younger.

Oh, how the longing to impresss people could take over me back then. ;P
