Sep. 9th, 2008 04:47 pmOne thing that is so endearing about musicals of yore: men in suits can just start tap dancing in the middle of a townsquare, which houses a bunch of Scottish people from the 1700s, and everyone takes this as nothing out of the ordinary.
And then the men in kilts learn from watching this few minutes of dexterity, and they all join in. It's fabulous.

Date: 2008-09-10 03:24 am (UTC)I was talking about how much I love Gene Kelly LITERALLY ten minutes ago. Me and my mom are watching "The Great Escape" and talking about the oldtime film stars we love, and dude, Gene Kelly, top o' the list.
(All the time, in random speak, I'll say something that mimics the "and I cann'a get over her" line from the end of that movie. You know, Cyd Charisse was in "Singing in the Rain," in that tripped out section. Awesome.)

Date: 2008-09-10 02:07 pm (UTC)You know, The Pirate is the only movie of his and Judy's that I absolutely can't watch. I'm not wild about the script in the first place, but the way Judy was so strung out just devastates me.
