Sep. 26th, 2008 07:10 pmSo, here's the thing: I love pancakes. Like, I have an unholy love for the pancake. If people want to get me up at some horribly early hour, almost everyone who knows me is clever enough to bait me with pancakes. For example, "If you come with us at 4:45 to bring Katie to the airport, there will be pancakes afterward" or "If you come with us to the mall on hell day Black Friday, there will be pancakes as a reward." That sort of thing.
But I don't like home-made pancakes. No no. I want the industrial stuff, the kind from IHOP or Denny's or The Cracker Barrel. I want pancakes that have never seen the inside of my mother's frying pan, is what I'm saying. But then I found a happy medium.
Pancake mix.
I had scoffed at this. Recently, in fact: Melissa bought some and I was like "LULZ, Melissa, what are you buying that for?" and she was all, "to make pancakes, dorkus, why else?" (Only she probably said it nicer, cause that's the way she is.) And then my mom sent me some in a care package, totally randomly, cause she knows how much I love pancakes and even though I literally live next door to an International House of Pancakes I'm a cheap bastard.
Warily, I tried it.
And OMFG guys. No, really. With that kind, you added some amount of water, danced around the kitchen shaking it, and then VOILA. PANCAKE BATTER.
So my roommate Esther and I made pancakes. And since she was flipping them, they turned out awesome. And they were awesome, cause they didn't taste remotely homemade, they tasted like they game from IHOP. And that was precisely what I was going for.
On Tuesday, I went out and got me some Bisquick mix, cause it has "quick" right the title and that was my goal, and sure enough, 1/2 cup of milk and 1 egg later, I was in business.
Which means that I have had a stack of three fluffy pancakes every two days three times now.
Now, I am delighted by this. But I think it will have an effect on my waistline similar to the effects shown in this comic from xkcd.

I'm doomed.

Date: 2008-09-26 11:26 pm (UTC)I am a sucker for homemade pancakes, but I completely understand the problem. xDD And your graph is exponentially true, alas. Just substitute chocolate chip cookies/brownie batter for me.

Btw... did you ever see that comment I left you FOREVER ago about me possibly being in Florida in December?

Date: 2008-09-27 12:17 am (UTC)Nick has a soccer tournament in Orlando between Christmas and New Year. We haven't decided exactly what we're doing yet, but I'm working on getting a vacation out of it. My parents said we could probably find a way for me to get to Miami if you're around/not busy then. Which would be fabulous. :D

Pancakes. They are, true story, 3000 times better than waffles.

Date: 2008-09-27 02:34 am (UTC)Except for the ones at a certain station at the dining hall that make waffles with a Gator head in the middle. THOSE ARE THE SHIT.
