The weather since yesterday has been unfailingly wet and a constant bone-chilling 50º. All yesterday. All last night. So far all today.

You're joking about the bone-chilling 50, right?

For it is nippily in the 20s here, and we have it all over poor frozen Chicago -- which in turn has it over poor frozen Minneapolis, which is a tropical paradise to my friends in Alaska, who are currently suffering a two-week spell where the temperature is -30. Without windchill.

I am a born and bred Miamian. The entire time I was home for break, it never went below 70. And, when it's cold here, it's normally just cold, not cold-and-wet. This 50 with the rain is completely horrifying. It may not be bone-chilling to anyone else in the country (or even like, remotely cool at all to the poor Alaskans) but here? People are flat-out panicking.

Oh, I can't do this. I would kill a man for fifty. KILL A MAN.

(I wouldn't really kill a man. But it would be amazing. It warmed up from -3 to like 16 yesterday, and it felt like a miraculous mid-January summer's gift.)
