So, I'm pretty sure my computer has a virus. I woke up, earlier than I would've liked because something is up with my stomach and that thing does not like me sleeping, and I'm surfing the interwebs, whatever, when suddenly this "MS Antispyware" thing comes up. Which is a red flag right there, because I haven't had virus protection in over a year now. So I google it and it's like IT'S A VIRUS SON SHUT IT DOWN. So I did but then things started getting wonky and scary and I tried removing it from my computer but I don't know and I'm scared to do anything. My roommate helped me download McAfee from our school, because apparently UF gives it to its student (... surprise!) so now that's running but I am like, petrified. I am so absurdly attached to my computer.

So, yeah. Awesome!

This just happened to me like a week or so ago and I survived! Unless my computer is being really stealthy about being okay again, but I hope it has genuinely recovered. I think the virus I got had a different name, but it was the same fake Spyware thing.

I found this sort of page and found the .exe name (wow, I so don't understand any computer terms!) and then control-alt-deleted, found it on 'Processes,' and went 'End process,' and the fake Spyware program went away. Then I downloaded this program and did a scan and got rid of all the stuff that came up.

And then I was fixed! Or so it seems!

Malware Bytes thoroughly burninates that particular nasty bit of work. I used it to nuke it off the computer at work when our anti-virus couldn't.

I'm so glad that it's not just me that got this. I feel better knowing that other intelligent, internet-savvy people have been affected. I went to that site and... attempted to follow the instructions? Because I'm pretty faily at following, but I downloaded that malbytes thing and I'm going to run it after mcafee finishes. Thanks for your help!
