sunshine_queenAlright, kids, I'm trying to get some more activity up here in this LJ, and what better way to do this than a meme? Everyone likes memes. And I'm totally sure everyone wants to know my opinions on characters, because, really, who wouldn't want to know my opinion on characters? I'm fabulous.
Continuining in my fabulousity, I am saying it here so that it will get done, or else I will chicken out: tomorrow I am filming my minute-long thing to submit to the Acting Outlaws. Yes, this does involve me filming myself talking and then sending it to them to possibly use on their DVD. Yes, this does make me want to throw up. Yes, I do feel like I might look crazy BUT IT IS A CHANCE I HAVE TO TAKE.

* How I FEEEEEL about this character: I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER. Ellen Tigh is one of my top characters on BSG, because she's so amazing and complex and strong and wonderful. I love everything about her.
* All the people I ship romantically with this character: Colonel Saul Tigh. They are my #2 couple on BSG, and that is really saying something.
* My non-romantic OTP for this character: Samders. My mental canon has them being close when they were on original earth and on their 2000 year trip or whatever.
* My unpopular opinion about this character: ... That she's perfect? I don't know how popular that opinion is.
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Oh, so much. I wish that there had been more information on her life on Earth! I wish there had been more on how she created the Cylons or whatever! I wish there had been entire episodes dedicated to the greatest love story of all, THAT OF THE TIGHS, WHO WERE TOGETHER FOR 2000+ YEARS. I also wish she hadn't been so catty to Caprica when she came back. :(

Date: 2011-05-06 03:06 am (UTC)* How I FEEEEEL about this character: I literally do not think I could love Natalie more without my heart exploding. Short anecdote: I had never used the word 'boo' before (you know, in the context of 'she is my boo') and then decided that there was no other way to explain how much I loved Natalie: she is my boo. This may not sound important to some, but it is very important to me. She is the greatest. She is a leader, even though she's scared, and even though she doesn't know exactly what she's doing, she's trying her best, God love her. She's perfect and wonderful and always dresses perfectly and her hair is so magical and she's really eloquent and a leader and I ADORE HER. Someone made a music video of BSG to the Flobot's "No Handlebars" and for the lyric that went "I can lead a nation with a microphone" they showcased Natalie, and that's exactly what I think. She is so talented, she can mobilize people with just her words. And I love her for that.
* All the people I ship romantically with this character: Boyfriend Leoben (the one who wears the red shirt that's with her a lot; in my head he later took the name Nathan to honor her,) Kara
* My non-romantic OTP for this character: ... /awesome? /win?
* My unpopular opinion about this character: SHE WAS THE DYING LEADER? I don't even know. I wish she could've been around forever, I think she would've been an amazing representative for the rebel Cylons. This isn't to say that Sonja wasn't awesome as well, it's just that Natalie is my boo. (See?)
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I WISH ATHENA HADN'T IRRATIONALLY MURDERED HER IN COLD BLOOD BECAUSE SHE'S A LUNATIC. I WISH THAT SHE HAD LIVED. I WISH THAT SHE HAD GOTTEN TO SEE THE CYLONS GETTING ALONG WITH THE HUMANS. I WISH SHE'D MADE IT TO EARTH.

I'm assuming that we're referring to The Leoben, as in the one who loved Kara- I love the Two line as a whole- but I am hella conflicted about Leoben. There is no doubt that what he does to Kara is incredibly fucked up and wrong- no thank you, Leoben, we do not kidnap people and imprison them for months, that is not how we treat the people that we love!- but I think he honestly didn't realize that what he was doing was going to backfire. I think that his thought process was like, I love Kara, so I must find Kara, and then take her off to live with me, and we will live together and be in love and it will be wonderful!!! and then he just... didn't give up. Ever. And then he kidnapped a baby oh Leoben. Bad decisions abound.
* All the people I ship romantically with this character: I kind of ship him with Kara? Sometimes he does things that make my heart constrict in a painful way.
* My non-romantic OTP for this character: The Hybrid! You know he loved her to bits. (Not the same way as Kara.)
* My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't loathe him? Obviously I'm not thrilled with what he did with Kara but I can kind of rationalize it? IDK HE MAKES ME ALL UNCOMFORTABLE.
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish that he had understood that love means never having to kidnap the one you love?

Oh Leoben, you are a classic 'bad decision dinosaur' but I still believe you meant to help Kara...and just went about it in a completely frakked up and inappropriate way. Sigh.
We are in complete agreement about the twos being fantastic. I love the image someone suggested about them sitting in corners on the Base writing brooding poetry while sister Sixes and Eights were busy working to repair the G.
Also Leoben/Hybrid FTW. Back in the day (before pigeon angels), I really thought Kara was going to be revealed to be Hybrid...which adds even more depth to the Leoben/Hybrid possibilities. ;)

No one believes me when I say that I love Leland Joseph after hearing me rag on him, I do. I think he's delightful. I think he makes a lot of bad choices, but he tries to do the right thing often and bless him, he is so idealistic! His speech in Crossroads kills me because he honestly means everything he's saying, and he's adorable and I love him. Do I sometimes want to smack him upside the head? Sure, but that's par for the course.

* My unpopular opinion about this character: I think that he and Kara made the best buddyroos. They were terrific when they were just palling around, dropping buckets of paint or spraying one another with hoses and otherwise being enchanting.
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish he had gotten with Sonja on screen, but that's what fic is for. I also wish he hadn't sent all the technology into the sun. Oh, Leland.

'Love, love, love' repeatedly, because I love her forever. All I want to do is hug her forever. There are so many layers, and so much complexity and I want to ask her so many things and I LOVE HER, BTW. I LOVE HER.
* All the people I ship romantically with this character: Admiral Helena Cain. Before you say anything, I KNOW. It is officially the worst ship of anything to ever exist. There has never been a worse ship in the history of shipping. But I am a sucker for tragedy, and this- this takes the cake. You can't top this for tragedy. In almost every ship that's ill-fated, you can find something to fix to make it workable- if this had happened, or if someone had said this, or if the other one hadn't done that- and the thing about AHC&G is that there is no way to fix it, there is no way it could ever be fixed, because of what Gina was, and what AHC went through. And that slays me forever, because of that DAMN SCENE WHERE MICHELLE FORBES ACTED WITH HER EYES, and then the other two scenes where TRICIA ACTED WITH HER EYES, and I hate them both forever because this ship is ALL THEIR FAULT.
* My non-romantic OTP for this character: Gaius. In a nonromantic way, I think they were good for each other. Also, I would've loved to have Gina be buddyroos with Kendra.
* My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't know if any of my opinions are unpopular- I absolutely love that she showed up in The Plan, even though it shattered my heart into a thousand million pieces? Seeing her so brilliant and happy and, to paraphrase Fernando, young and full of life and not prepared to die almost makes me cry.
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: NOTHING I CAN'T FIX ANYTHING. I can't say that I wish she shot AHC when she had the chance, because I love AHC, as conflicting as that is. I can't say I wish she had killed herself when she had the chance, because she was scared to, poor baby. I wish she hadn't gotten on Pegasus, I guess, even though it would take my ship away from me, but I can live with that.
Most of my thoughts about her are closely linked to her relationship with AHC, Nicole, and I know that's not your cup of tea! I love her forever and I kind of wish she had reunited with her sisters- just so that she could've... IDK, hugged them? Had someone treat her with kindness and then not sleep with her (Gaius)? But then it would be so hard because Natalie would be like OKAY WE'RE GOING TO HUG UNTIL YOU FEEL BETTER because bless her, Natalie didn't seem to get that some traumas can't be overcome with handholding and cuddles, and if it didn't work for Faith it really wasn't going to work for Gina- but maybe having someone like Gina around would've helped Faith, and vice versa? IDK. I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS, I WISH I COULD MAKE A CAKE OF RAINBOWS.

* How I FEEEEEL about this character: Eh. I think a lot of what he did was trolling Laura, it just so happened that what he was saying was right a lot of the time.
* All the people I ship romantically with this character: No one, really. I'm sure if BSG had give us a Mrs Zarek and shown us their relationship it would've been fantastic, but they did no such thing.
* My non-romantic OTP for this character: I don't really have one of these either!
* My unpopular opinion about this character: Sweet Mary mother of God, so often he was right. It's embarrassing how often he was right and people acted like he was wrong.
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish that he hadn't done the mutiny more than anything! Even though it was awesome and everyone was badass, I wish it hadn't happened. You suck, Gaeta and Zarek!

He's his own non-romantic OTP? Hee! Too true. Although given all the times he's been caught in the act, I kinda think he's also his own romantic OTP. :P
I know Gina initiated, but I do wish that when she was taking off her clothes that Gaius had had the emotional intelligence to understand what an incredibly bad idea it was to sleep with her and that he had put a robe around her, taken her to a nearby couch and just held her in that incredibly compassionate way I know he has in him.
I *totally* agree about New Caprica. It *is* bananas to think that he could have done anything, although it is my personal fanon that the other half of my Baltar OTP, Felix, held him responsible for the Occupation for a long time. But it's such a fact that they were completely outnumbered and taken totally by surprise and the Cylons had a frakking billion scary robots at their disposal. What was he supposed to do?

Everything you said about the Gina situation: so, so true. The saddest thing about the Gina situation in relation to Gaius is that it's like he totally didn't understand that she wasn't Red, and therefore wasn't his very own darling Caprica from home, because Six was Six was Six. Gina made Gaius grow so much, but it was at that kind of cost- he was like, 'sex? Cool.' instead of like, 'Sex? ... Probably not the best time, let's cuddle.' because he wasn't there yet. Oh, Gaius.
I can absolutely see why people emotionally blame him- he was the president, he surrendered to them, it was his fault- but logically: come on, y'all. There was literally nothing he could have done differently. It's not like if he had refused the Cylons would've been like, oh, okay then, let's pack it up. No, they would've just killed folks. It was a total mess of a situation, but it wasn't like Gaius was like YAY CYLON BUDDIES I AM SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW TO BEST SUPPRESS THE POPULACE. Honestly.
