I actually don't think I can fully recap meeting Nica.

Right now, she's at the UM orientation, so I'm trying to get my homework done so I can be with her when she comes over afterwards... but let me start at the beginning.

Last I left you, Nica had just called and she was on her way.

Nica and her dad drove up in a yellow mustang convertible (sweet, sweet car.) I walked out... and wow. It was Nica.

We hugged.

I met her dad, Greg, who is just really super nice.

We went inside, and everyone met, and I showed Nica around. Mostly squee'ed a lot. Nica declared that baby pictures of me look nothing like me.

We went to lunch at Larios down the street and sat outside. Lunch was nice- my mom and her dad got along well, and Nica was warming up to me... she was a bit timid. Nica is SO cute.

We had fun deciding what to do, and that debacle gave Mel a new nickname 'Mouth', fondly bestowed by accident by Greg. It was decided that Nica, Greg and I would drive down to metro zoo.

We drove down there, past my school... and sure, it was a bit weird, pointing out things to Nica... because Nica was there and... whoa.

We went into the zoo- which, every one knows, is one of my least favorite places EVER- and Greg played an angel and offered to wait for us while we walked around.

So we set off around the zoo.

When no one makes it into a whole big experience, which is everyone I ever go with- the zoo can actually be fun. I went because I knew Nica liked animals, and we actually did have a great time. We talked... and sure, there were lulls, partially because we already know about each other and idle chatter is hard to make when you're still slightly awed to be in one another's presence... but overall it was fun. The wall really fell down when we were on the monorail- we just went off on X-Files and Alias and really just had a great time. We screamed a lot about the many Bills on XF, how 'THERE [was] NO TIME!' and other fun things. Oh, Bristow appendages and features and those of the Derevkos and Vaughns.

There was this one point, after the soda machines refused to accept Nica's Virginian money and she wound up getting a lemonade icee thing and we were sitting on this big plastic nest for kiddies, and there we were sitting, dressed alike by accident... and I realized, as people walked by and watched us perched there, sharing the icee... they must thought we were best friends. Because we looked it.

At that point, we weren't sure if Nica was going to be able to spend the night, so we were trying desperately to make the most of each other. We went in search of a drugstore 'cause Nica's daddy needed some tylenol, and Nica bought a disposable camera. We took pictures in the car.

Then we went back to my house, where my Daddy and Nica's Daddy became Teh BFFs. It really was amazing. We settled down on my loveseat to watch Teh Best Movie Ever and we watched only the Dana/Mulder parts... because we don't need no stinkin' plot. Truly. We don't.

After that we ordered dinner, and we hung around in my room and looked through pictures and books and chatted. We all ate dinner together from The Big Cheese, which is SO good, and our parents get along wonderfully, and her Dad decided Nica could spend the night!

After that we decided to watch 'Rendezvous'- but I wanted to see the Denpasar mission, which started in 'The Solution', so we started that, but THAT one had the mission in Algeria Where Vaughn Spoke French, so we had to watch that... and then I called Mom and Mel in for The Girly Scream and we watched it a couple of times. Nica saw the Alias Dance!

We watched some X-Files kisses and wow, I'm already forgetting. I know we watched 'The Coup' because it was symbolic, and Nica took a ten minute nap and missed the Observatory scene. Then we got up and went online to chat to with Tess and Hannah. I burned Nica a CD to commemorate her visit and it took for-freaking-ever, and then we went to bed.

We talked for a bit, in bed, about how it was weird, but not, but yes, 'surreal but nice' we decided, and we set my alarm for 8:30 because her daddy was coming.

This morning we woke up and I was all groggy and I concerned Nica, and she took a shower and I grogged around while Nica did that and blew dry her hair, and I grogged around until Daddy got us donuts. Nica's daddy came and the BFFs reunited- mind you, they're already emailing each other- and Nica and I watched the XF episode where Dana and Mulder were in north florida with creepy invisible glowy red-eyed things and it was not raining sleeping bags. Nica had to leave in the middle of it, but she's coming back afterwards.

We've taken some pictures, but it doesn't do it justice. Our parents keep marvelling how Nica looks like she could fit into our family, and how her name fits in, and my parents are all gushing how she looks like one of my friends, and how well we got on.

I really should do my homework, so I can relax when she comes back.
