Jun. 24th, 2005 10:17 pmI watched five hours of the X-Files today. No joke. Paper Hearts and El Mundo Gira and Leonard Betts and Kaddish and Unrequited.
I really liked 'Paper Hearts'- the bad guy really cracked me up, and I loved Mulder in it and stories like that freak me out but attract me just the same. Hello, "The Lovely Bones." And Mulder and Samantha. Poor Mulder, dude. He's like the brother in "The Face on the Milk Carton" who was supposed to be watching Jennie and holding her hand but instead pushed her down and walked away, which led Janie to walk away and be kidnapped by Hannah who gave Jennie to her parents who raised her as Janie who found out when she was 16 that she had been kidnapped and went back to find her real family.
At the beginning of "El Mundo Gira," I shouted out, 'Ay, Dios! Es el chupacabra!" and my mom and sister yelled out, "Who?" I was all, you fools! The Goat Sucker! He sucks goats dry! He's a hispanic monster, what is the matter with you two? And then I press play and the mexican people are all, "Aieeee! Madre de dios, el chupacabraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" and I was giggling madly. Mulder and Dana making "Maria" jokes was just hysterical. And? "Gira" was in the title. Hee.
I expected a lot from "Leonard Betts" because of what Nica's told me, and I was pretty pleased with it. It wasn't that gross, and I ate in front of it with no big deal. And that whole resin-ating his whole head and then slicing it up rocked.
The next disk had "Never Again" and "Momento Mori," both of which I watched with Nica, so I skipped to "Kaddish" which I loved. For one thing, hardcore Jews fascinate me, and that was the entire point of the episode. Second thing is that anti-semites that go around printing up pamphlets on how bad jews are, while being horrible and misguided and ignorant individuals, can be really, really amusing. Case in point? The guy in the print shop who sneered at Mulder about looking like "one of them," and yes, I am a sick sick person. Thirdly, the whole idea of golems was really cool, and I loved Ariel. Wasn't so thrilled that her maiden name was Weiss (or that her father's name was Jacob Weiss,) but I loved her. I was really happy with that episode.
"Unrequited" irritated me. So much. Except for my love of Skinner. Oh, love Skinner.
Marita Covarubbias has EOD. It's pretty distracting.
And Dana is always lovely and composed. And Mulder was uniformly amusing throughout.
Other than that, I did the pool this morning. It was Deep Water Drill, which sucks, because 90% of the kids hate it and refuse to do anything. We're down to one teacher and one aide now, and we're handling our class fine. Yolanda got off my case today simply because I couldn't leave Oneida by herself.
Then I came home and watched "paper hearts," came online for a bit, and then napped. Got up, watched the rest of the X-Files and... here I am.
I wrote the Sarkney fic for Nita, and now I have to do the two Moonlighting fics for Nica and Kerlin. I'm entirely doomed. I think I'll be able to do Maddie, but David? Oy, vey.

Date: 2005-06-24 07:56 pm (UTC)2. LOL, El Chupacabra, hee. Cute story. :P
The best part about El Mundo Gira is its refs in Bad Blood: "...and it's not that Mexican goat-sucker, either!"
3. I've always loved Leonard Betts because it seemed so well-rounded, IMO. And it's the only one that really freaked me out, because like... think about touching that! Gross. Plus, Scully looked really pretty throughout. And I LOVE "You have something I need."
4. I remember NOTHING about Kaddish, except... wasn't there like... a statue or something? I want to say snowglobe--but you know me and snowglobes. :P
It bothers me that Mulder's Jewish-ism was never clearly defined. I always said he is, but I figure he's half-'n'-half and celebrates all sorts of holidays.
5. I don't remember Unrequited, except it was on last weekend (I didn't watch), and my mother approached me the next day and announced, "There was some X-File on the other day that I hadn't ever seen. Do you know it?" "Ummm..." "They were looking for this guy, and he disappeared when you made--" *Makes motion with hands* "--you know!" *Monica motions with her hands, too* "Yes, that! Direct eye contact?" "Ohhh, okay." "And anyway... [goes on to talk about an actor in it]." "Oh, really?" "Yeah. [She goes on to talk about something COMPLETELY OFF-TOPIC for a really long time." "...What does this have to do with X-Files?" "Nothing, I just wanted to tell you about that actor."
5. Marita, Marita, Marrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiita! God, I really wish I'd shown you Requiem, le sigh. Anyway, Marita gets to be pretty later on: See? And she gets a hot boyfriend and they do fun stuff together. Yay.
6. Scully got cancer and then Scully got ubergorgeous. Like... as the season progresses, it's like they all conspired to make her as pretty as can be. Eeee. Can't wait 'til you see Small Potatoes and Elegy and Demons (!) and Gethsemane, cause OH WITH TEH PRETTY.
7. LOL! You don't have to do the David viggie, it's fine. :P

Date: 2005-06-24 08:28 pm (UTC)2. I remember hearing about it from Nicole Salcedo in elementary school.
3. Yeah, there was gross stuff. But nothing like, beyond the realm of possibility.
4. There was a castle-ring in a little glass thinger. Close.
Dude, I know! I'm all, Mulder? Did you have a bar mitzvah?
5. It sucked. Really.
5. Eh, Marita's okay. I love Dana! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANAAAAAAAAAA!
6. Dana's always beautiful. She's just especially beautimous now.
7. Yeah, I do.
