Jul. 16th, 2004 05:38 pmI haven't LJed in like, a million years, because it'd be all whines. I want to be HOME. I'm sick of NY and my family and everything. Seriously.
- Gramma: a loon with occasional moment of decency. She's keeping her dog and she kennelized it, which is why I'm here now until Monday.
- Mare Mare: Wonderful, but near the end of her rope. She compartmentalizes too much, and between losing the three cats (Mokey, 17, her cat; Delta, like, 6, Little Amy's cat; and Oliver, 2, Jeannie's cat) and her dog (crazy Lucy) and seeing Carolyn and the babies every day, worrying about Amy never getting married, still feeding and paying for Jeannie's (and now her boyfriend's) living expenses and worrying about her remaining dog, things are getting a bit much for her. Mom wanted to get her away for a night, but she worries too much and refused.
- Carolyn: She's fun, she really is. I don't see her too much, and I never talk to her much because she's so much older, but we were talking on our last day in Saratoga and she asked about Daddy, and I mentioned the hip replacement, and then I thought, what the hell? and brought up alcoholism, which she is well aware of, since Mare Mare is/was one and so was her dad, the illustrous Tommy that my mother disliked and Mare Mare idolizes to this day.
- Little Amy: Still single, making a wonderful living and advancing in leaps and bounds in her career. She's got a mind like a steel trap and is one of the prettiest of the cousins.
- Jeannie: Damned princess that's spent maybe a cumulative 90 minutes with us since we got here. Yay her.
- Mom: Wants to be home. Worries about everyone. Has seen Laura a bunch of times, which rocks for her.
- Me: Dying to go home. Desperate.
- Mel: Seemingly recovered from dogbite, not holding grudges. Overtired and antsy.
- Aunt Amy: Apparently going crazy again. In 'rare form' according to my mother and her other sisters, on new meds and back at the same job she was at when she went crazy the first time. Not doing well. Again. Worrying the family one and all and being raunchy and crude all the while. Damn funny, though.
- Briana: Engaged, supposedly but dates guys on the side and we never see the boyfriend. Less or equally as shallow as Jean.
- Aunt Julie: Really great. Still under Uncle Larry's thumb, but great.
- Katie: I have been away from this child TWO NIGHTS since I got here. I want her gone right about now. I love her to death, but at this point she's become my new little sister and I'm ready to be an only child. Even my mother yells at her like she's her kid.
- Caroline: I love her, I really do, but once kids reach the age of 5 they get really irritating to me. Caroline's almost 7. Meeeeeh.
- Chris: Carolyn's husband- saw him this trip for the first time since the wedding about five years ago. He exists! yay!
- Larry: A really nice guy who is always trying to educate us. He tries to expand our mind and takes us on hikes and tries to convert me to republicanism. Mmhmm, sure.
This trip I have:
- climbed a mountain. Again. +3,000 ft. above sea level. And I go to school below sea level. Crazy, man. I walked over five miles last Saturday.
- gotten into 'La Femme Nikita'
- gotten lots of clothes
- had the most annoying, worst vacations of all time, and that includes the alcoholism NYC trip.
I want to be home.
In funner news, I get to see Jess tomorrow. :-D
