Dec. 29th, 2005 05:18 pmAs much as I hate the episode for absolutely killing my soul, "The Telling" is one of the best episodes ever seen on Alias.
I mean, it's got everything. Will and Weiss meet, and it's hysterical. Marshall begs Jack to let Carrie come along on the mission, and what's more, Jack does... he does it. Out of the goodness of his heart. There's crazy Sloane. There's I-fucking-rina (which I actually said, 'cause I've only watched this episode a few times because oh, it breaks my heart) helping Syd even when it doesn't look like it. There's the magic cell, where everyone goes. The "denouement" to the double-thing.
And some classic lines. I mean, Will's in a hotel room, and when he's on the run from the CIA and with NotFrancie, he's all, "I'm a killer, Francie! I killed people. I took people's life. I'm a KILLER." and then they cut over to him and he whispers to himself, "I shouldn't be yelling this." and it was just <brilliant.>
And Syd and Irina. It's- it was amazing what they did. The way she's helping and Syd listens against her will and gets burnt, and then Irina is like, dude, I had no idea Sloane was going to suck, so you'd best get to sweden and Syd is like, omg Mom I HATE YOU. Which is classic Syd. But then when Irina came up from behind and shot those guys? That was what earned the I-fucking-rina. It's what I exclaimed, anyway.
And Sark was there, and he was a biter, but he also was adorable with NotFrancie. All boyfriendlike and cute.
And Sloane was creepy and Rambaldi-obsessed and Daddy! Oh, so strong.
And gom, Kendall! I miss him ever so.
... but the SyVa.
They were so insidious with what they were doing. They had Syd and Vaughn ice skate together, and be all cute talking about Santa Barbara. And then when they went to Sweden, they were such a couple, and more Santa Barbara. And it was... my god. They were the cutest couple ever. And then he drives her home and says, yep, got our reservation. I'll come back in a little bit and pick you up and we're going on vacay.
... and there was no grand goodbye, no lingering looks or long kisses or passionate declarations of farewell. Because he was coming back in a little bit. It wasn't like he was dropping her off on the corner in Overtown at eleven forty-two at night; he was dropping her off at her house. What was going to happen there?
And there there was the fight, and poor Sydney had to see another bloodied man in her bathtub, and then she woke up in Hong Kong, and... oh my god. Their reunion.
I never watch this episode because I can't stand the ending. It is just... it's so insanely depressing and sad and I'm glad I wasn't watching Alias at the time, 'cause I would've gone crazy that summer.
The episode rocked.

Date: 2005-12-30 12:49 am (UTC)The first summer was worse. When we thought Vaughn died in the LikeTitanicScene. I thought I was going to die. That was way more lykwhoa.
This episode, for me, marks the last good episode of Alias. I was disappointed with every episode after (or at least where the show was heading) except for Search & Rescue. 'Coz I-fucking-rina. But after season 2 ended, my love for Alias just died. I felt like the show lost something.

The show changed, is all.
