Carol just IMed me to say she got into UF. Then she said that Taylor and Janessy got deferred. I'm not quite sure about Janessy, but I know for a fact that Taylor has both a higher class rank than me and a better SAT score.

Which means I'm screwed.

And I won't know for another month and a half.

I mean, I don't mind doing the summer term if it means getting into UF. I don't care. I'll do anything. I just want to go.

So I've been thinking. Madi, you'll probably get in. And I'm not just saying this to be nice, because I hated when people did it to me. (You know, Of course you're going to get in when they really had no way of knowing. It's just annoying and frustrating.) But, I can go. Not in the fall as I would have hoped, but if I do Summer B, then I can also stay for fall. I'm sure your academics are so much better than mine. What's your GPA? I remember you told me once before and it was really high. And it seems like you do extracurricular stuff as well. And I know your SAT scores qualify you for the 100% Bright Futures, so that's great. And I bet your essays were awesome, because you're an awesome writer.

My SAT scores don't qualify me for the 100%, my essays were good, I do a lot of extracurriculars, and my GPA wasn't as high as yours.

My regular GPA is like a 3.4 or something, but my weighted GPA is a 4.979. Which I round up to 5. What was your weighted GPA?

I really hope I'll get in. This morning I was talking to my mom about it, and she got that I'm-about-to-have-a-heart-attack-so-get-the-phone-ready look, and I was like, look, I know girls better qualified than me who were deferred, so, right now there's nothing I can do about it but hope for the best. If I do get in, like you, we are totally going to have to hunt one another down. And then jump up and down.

Weighted GPA is the same as like HPA, right?

And the more I talk to people and see who got in and who didn't get in, or who got sorta in (like me) or who got deffered, and you really can't judge by grades or rank. My friend Kiran, he was deffered and two of his friends got sorta in. And then, another friend of his, who is ranked below the first two got full in acceptance. And yeah, it's just all crazy. UF IS JUST RANDOM PICKING PEOPLE. That's my thesis. Yep.
