SpyMommy is my homegirl
Jul. 28th, 2004 05:30 pmYou know, I just have the worst, awfulest sneaking suspicion that when Alias gets back they're going to tell us that not only is good ole' Bill Vaughn alive, they're gonna show us that he and SpyMommy had mad crazy sex. I don't care how plausible or inplausible it is... I fear it. Muchly.
*sighs* Anyway, Lena Olin still kicks all kinds of asses and is beyond gorgeous and fantastic and like, you know, even hotter than Jen Garner and the center of the earth. I mean, Jen's my girly crush, but Lena Olin is just... just... and this, coming from a heterosexual female. I forgot how much I missed her.
Talked to Nita for awhile today- it was so fun speaking to her. We haven't talked in ages due to weird MSN/AIM/AOL weirdness, so she got YIM and now we're talking! Alias is fun! YAY!
She fed my ego like whoa and said that my fic was good. It was so awesome. I'm so insecure. *sigh*
Tess is right, 2.01 is called 'The Enemy Walks In' and I'm just stupid. No matter. Tess and Regina put me straight. I love Regina.
What is it about reality-show participants, that they feel a constant need to invoke the Deity in their various banal and/or downright venal activities? Do they really think it's appropriate to involve the Lord in their caber-tossing and testicle-eating?
We feel it's important to let reality-show contestants know that, in the grand scheme, their divine importunings are pointless -- and that, specifically, God doesn't stoop to interfere with unscripted TV. As an astute observer we know once commented: a reality-show contestant should think of God as he did his mom when he was a kid. As in, you don't bug Mom, or try to get her to mediate your petty squabbles, when she's trying to enjoy some solo Mom time. Like when she's taking a bath, getting her Calgon on: you don't barge on in there to see if you can shave the dog; you do not bother Mom when she's in the tub.
And so it is with God. Your reality-show shenanigans are like unto the shaving of the dog. And God, like Mom, is in the tub. Wear the shirt that will remind reality-show contestants of this fact ever after.

Date: 2004-07-28 03:29 pm (UTC)I read a fic where it turned out Irina liked, injured BV, but it was Yelena who delivered the final blow. It... worked, but non canonically.

Date: 2004-07-28 03:31 pm (UTC)I think the problem is that Alias is becoming too predictable. I should not be able to predict the finale of a show that relies on plot twists before episode 11 airs. :p
no subject
Date: 2004-07-28 03:39 pm (UTC)But, yeah. You're a predicting machine. And it scares me. :P
Sloppy seconds, *BANGBANG*!

Date: 2004-07-28 03:56 pm (UTC)Oh, dude. When the finale started quoting my fic, I was scared. :p
And the whole sloppy seconds thing amuses me way more than it should.

Date: 2004-07-28 04:24 pm (UTC)Okay, when the finale started quoting your fic, even I was scared. It was just way too much. I kept sitting there thinking, "Where have I heard this, where have I heard this... oh my GOD!"
*Giggles* I still can't believe they cut the sloppy seconds line. C'mon now, that was genius writing right there, and they left it on the cutting room floor! :O

Date: 2004-07-28 04:29 pm (UTC)It was so great, I was glad I watched the finale alone the first time, because in addition to dying laughing at Teh Stupid, I kept thinking, "Dude! Did they just say . . .?" :p
Oh yeah, quality writing right there. *cackles* Right up there with the "I am sad for you and Lauren" speech. ;)

Date: 2004-07-28 03:34 pm (UTC)And that would be damned freaky if Irina and PoppaVaughn had a thing. And the result of the thing was Syd. And Vaughn/Syd turns out to be a bunch of frightening incest. And dear Lord, please stop me now.
Let's just hope that JJ and co. thought the affair with Teddy was enough. (As it is, that still totally weirds me out. I mean, he loved Emily to the point where he was going to give up his entirely diabolical ways for her. And he still did the whole infidelity thing? Not cool, Teddy, not cool.)
Ahem, in other, less life-scarring areas of conversation, I so love your fic. It is the new love of my life, and you need to write more. Need to, I say!!

Date: 2004-07-28 04:20 pm (UTC)And dude, what's up with Ken Olin being married to Dr. Barnett?
LOL. They starred together on "thirtysomething," (not as a couple) but they were married before that. I love how Ken Olin can obviously pull enough strings to get his wife on a hit TV show, heh heh.
And for the record, I hate the idea of Sloane cheating on Emily, too. I love Nadia to death, but the whole affair just doesn't sit too well with me. I hope Sloane was a looker way back when, at the very least...
Okay, I'll stop now, so as not to like, scare you or anything. :D

Date: 2004-07-28 04:35 pm (UTC)As irrational as it is, Emily as Yelena could probably work. And knowing you, it'll come true. :P

Date: 2004-07-28 04:48 pm (UTC)Oh my goodness. The Unnatural is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I mean, sure, we get, what, seven minutes of Mulder and Scully together? But man, they are so cute. The episodes that David writes and directs are always the best because he manages to slip in soooo much M&S flirting. Hollywood A.D. is the best thing ever. :-) And I need to see Millenium too. I've downloaded the kiss clip and watched it, oh, 300 thousand times or so, but have yet to see the actual episode.
And my mom told me the whoooole thirtysomething story. Hehehe. I mean, she went on and on and on. And then when I try to tell her about Alias ("Oooh, yay, guess what, Ma? Sloane's wife isn't actually dead!") she just gave me this Look and informed me that I watch too much television.
Hah! Whatever.
And I am entirely not scared. Even though I think there is a chance that you might be by now. ;-)

Date: 2004-07-28 05:02 pm (UTC)*Giggles insanely* That's the same reaction when I saw you posting on one of her LJ entries the other day! I was like, "Madeline, who is dollsome? Because SHE WATCHES XF!" LOL. I was so glad to know that there are other people that have becoming newly obsessed with a "dead" fandom. :D

I know! I am totally obsessive over that episode now. They are so adorable when they flirt, and those two just have incredible chemistry. I hate that I never watched XF until now!
Hollywood A.D. is the best thing ever. :-)
So I've heard! My friend Hannah, as well as my mom, say it's one of the funniest episodes ever... and I've heard about the cute scene at the end, too. And yeah--thank goodness for DD getting to write some episodes, heh.
And I need to see Millenium too. I've downloaded the kiss clip and watched it, oh, 300 thousand times or so, but have yet to see the actual episode.
LMAO, same here! I LOVE what Mulder says afterwards, about the world not ending... such a perfect line with a great double meaning!
Are you watching the eps on TNT, or are you a very lucky soul and in possession of the DVDs? I've only got Seasons 1 and 2 so far, and Season 3 is on its way... my dad must think I'm crazy, LOL. I think I'll have to have 1-5 on DVD, since I started at "Bad Blood" and therefore missed "Detour" AND the "Redux" episodes... *sighs*
And my mom told me the whoooole thirtysomething story. Hehehe. I mean, she went on and on and on.
LOL! My mom does that, too! There will be some random actor on TV and she's all, "Okay, who's that?" "No idea..." "Well, that's ___, and he married ___, but before, he was married to ___, and they had ____." And she claims not to care about celebs' lives, too. :P
Oh, and me? Totally not scared. *Giggles* It's always a pleasure to MS gush with someone. :D

Date: 2004-07-28 07:09 pm (UTC)And I have the DVD sets for seasons 1, 5, and 6, and am rather desperate for 2, 3, and 7. Seasons 8 and 9 are tragic in their lack of Mulder, and therefore I figure I can live without them. Aaand . . . man, why must the DVDs be so expensive?? *weeps bitterly* I am counting down the days 'till my birthday, lemme tell ya.
Oooh, my goodness, I love Bad Blood. I honestly almost die every time I watch it. That and Arcadia both just light up my life like nobody's business. And I love Detour. :-) Detour's the one that won my heart. And the Redux eps are so shippy! And . . . you need DVDs. *nods wisely* As do we all. I've gotta start watching s7 tonight. I missed the beginning when they played it on Sci Fi earlier this summer, which is so entirely not good.
And man, our mothers are eerily similar like that. My mother claims not to care, either. Apparently, celebrities are not "real people." Hah! Today I mentioned Emily and Sloane again, and Ma gave me this whole long lecture about Amy Irving and how she used to date Steven Spielburg and they had a child but never got married and blah blah blah . . .
And the lack of fear is good. :-) MS gushing is most necessary!

Date: 2004-07-28 07:37 pm (UTC)Ooh, you lucky duck at having those DVD sets! I loved what I saw of season 5, and I enjoyed a good portion of season 6... it had some loveable episodes, definitely. And I've heard all about the tragic seasons 8 and 9... my mom complains about the suckage. I asked her if Reyes was really *that* bad and she just looked at me like, "Oh, you don't even know."
And yeah, it sucks that our fandom is SO expensive. They're still trying to sell the DVD sets for $100... and Barnes and Noble, they charge like, $140/season! So my dad has gotten seasons 1-3 on eBay, where I think we've gotten them for a reasonable amount--$50ish for each. So that's pretty cool. Christmas is only five months away, hehe. This is also one of those times where I wish I had a summer bday, LOL.
Yes, "Bad Blood" is SO FUNNY. I almost fell off the couc when Mulder sang the "Shaft" song! Oh, and "Arcadia?" Every single of moment of that was wonderful ("Woman, get back in here and make me a sandwich!). I've watched it like, three times, and all I do is oogle over those two. And yeah, I'm excited season 7's starting tonight, because of the ending of "Amor Fati." Except I'll have to survive through like, two hours of Diana Fowley. Blech. :P I was like, jumping for joy when Scully started investigating her in some other episode... she's just so easy to hate, that Diana. ;)
LOL at your mother! Dude! I've heard the whole Amy Irving story, too! LMAO. That's absolutely crazy. One of my mom's favorites is the Liz Taylor/Eddie Fisher/Debbie Reynolds scandal, heh. I think that one took her like, half an hour to completely get through... :P
*Squees* I feel like such a fangirl, because I'm such a sap... but it's so easy to be sappy over MS! They remind me a bit of Han/Leia from Star Wars, especially in fics. And the whole Diana/Mulder/Dana thing just makes me think of Syd/Vaughn/Lauren... except I liked Lauren, heh heh. :D

Well, it IS one of the funniest episodes ever. Your mom and I are right about that. ;)
I need to give myself a Mulder/Scully icon. Damn three spaces rule.
