Rufus Wainwright
Jeff Buckley
Leonard Cohen
I absolutely adore the Rufus version, and it's always been my favorite. I downloaded the Leonard Cohen version once I heard it was the original- the lyrics are different, but equally brilliant. According to the Wiki, there are fifteen verses written for this song that can, essentially, be mixed and matched.
I am, however, currently addicted to the Jeff Buckley version. It's said to be the most soulful, and I'm starting to agree. What really sold me, though, was the opening guitar.

Date: 2006-04-19 09:16 pm (UTC)I've read a few places that Buckley's is the most famous version, and it's rapidly rising in my opinion. I really like it. However, I am sold by the opening more than anything.
