So, I have the best roommate ever, who actually asked me yesterday "So, do you want to watch some Alias?" We watched 1-4 yesterday, and now we're watching 1.5 and THIS IS SO COOL. SO COOL. I just recently watched all these episodes for the_retelling, but I've been noticing some really cool things- I think watching without subtitles really aids in catching subtle face movements. We both have a cold so last night we just microwaved dinner and watched Alias, only stopping to go get some ice cream from Ben and Jerry's. We met two of her guy friends there, one of which was cute and funny, the one was... not. And slightly creepy. And flirting with me hard core, including, but not limited to, telling me I had the straightest teeth he'd ever seen.

I had a really weird dream last night. I know it involved Alias, and Olivia (... as in Ollie-Olivia, not Lauren's mom Olivia) and, even better, and randomly, my mom and I at a dinner at Emily Gilmore's house. I was slouching and Emily told me to stop. Weird, y/y?

Went to the football game, but with 8 minutes and forty-three seconds left, the game got postponed due to the storm. Since the score was 49-3, I figured I could just go home, so I did, and now Sasha and I are watching more Alias. AWESOME ROOMMATE AWESOME.

WORD on not watching with the subtitles. I love how I am allegedly a best friend of yours, and yet for your newly acquainted roommate, you acquiesce and turn off the subtitles. I am more than mildly insulted, you know. Plus, I am amused that you use subtitles. (1) Sometimes, they are actually incorrect; (2) I am the most hearing-impaired-without-being-deaf person on the planet, and I don't use subtitles!

Anyway, yes, not reading all the time makes it easier to actually watch a character's face, which is fun because it adds so much to a scene. What's even more fun is watching for little quirks--I can't think of any in Alias, but in XF, for example, Mulder putting his hand on Scully's back, or invading her personal space . . . watch for stuff like that that the characters do, because it's interesting to wonder how that came about. Did the actor decide to make it a character quirk? Does the actor, as himself, do it normally, and just accidentally integrated it into his character? Did it call for it in the script?

But now you know how it feels when I watch XF with you. :P It is my (oft-neglected) TV husband, and sharing it was just beyond amazing, though if I ever get a real husband, he will not be for sharing.

I am glad you and Sasha are getting along! That's really good to hear. Though how cruel of you to give her your cold.

PS: I have two of BritBrit bb's new songs . . . and they're so bad they're good. Kind of like Nelly Furtado, you know? I am drawn to them inexplicably. Anyway, in all hilarity, one of them is called "Cold as Fire," and besides being very sexually explicit, it has a chorus of "Cold as fire, baby / Hot as ice / If you've ever been to Heaven / This is twice as nice." It's freaking catchy, though. I'll inflict it upon you at some point.

It's different watching TV with subtitles when the TV is the size of a postage stamp, hence no subtitles. Also, I have seen basically everything there is to see on Alias at one point or another, given that I've seen every episode multiple times. And I will never willingly turn the subtitles off. So bite me.

I figure I didn't give her my cold, as we both lived in the same hall, and she thinks she was getting sick before she moved in.

Aw, I'm glad you like your roommate! I really hope I like mine half as much. She likes the office, though, which will be a bonding area.

I have to say, I'm so jealous of your Emily Gilmore dinner. Hee. Also? My team lost our first game. Sad. :( And it was the hottest day I have ever experienced in all of my California life. So hot, in fact, I might be forced to compose an entry about it tomorrow.

Ooh, LJ entries are fun. They were sending us emails earlier this week about the heat index for today, but it wasn't too bad because it was cloudy most of the game.

Yay for liking your roommate! That must be a weight off your mind. And she likes the same things! Always good. I used to love Alias, but season 3 tarnished my love a little. Is this your first year at uni? What are you studying?

Alias is my #1 fandom foreverrrrr, so while it had its ups and downs, I forgave it. And loved it. Mostly. Season five is what really hurt my soul.

It's my second year, actually. I'm studying poli sci. And having a roommate that so far is like my brain twin? Awesomely awesome. Truly.

I so love my Bourne icons. They make me happy.

I don't think I saw season 5. Is that the one where Vaughn was supposedly betraying her? Actually, yes! Could you, wonderful Alias fan, explain to me what happened in the end? Last I saw Lauren was evil, and erm... I don't remember much beyond that. That was season 3, right? I know there's a sister in the mix somewhere, and a marriage, but I don't really know the details. It would be good to find out, because I adored the first two seasons.

Oh, good god. So much happened. NADIA. You missed Nadia! Nadia is the best of all characters!

Um... a lot happened. Syd and co ditched the CIA to form this extra special group called APO (Authorized Personnel Only) which was like SD-6 (as in, a black ops division of the CIA) only it was legit. There wasn't too much Rambaldi stuff compared to other seasons, but there was a Sloane Clone. And at the end, a doomsday prophecy that put the lovely Nadia into zombification and then a coma. Anyway. Um, Vaughn proposed, and right after he did that, the season ended with him saying that his name wasn't Michael Vaughn, and then Syd and Vaughn's car got him by a car.

I've only seen Season Five once because I HATE IT WITH A FIERY PASSION and only remember some of it. Um, it turns out that Vaughn's dad was really part of this... group... called Prophet Five, that dealt with Rambaldi, and he was born Andre Michaux but his name was changed when he was a baby, so it's not so big of a deal. He's been working with this (lovely, delightful) girl named Renée Rienne because her dad worked with Papa Vaughn trying to find out the truth... or something. And then Vaughn got killed. But it turns out that he didn't really. And Syd was knocked up. And two new agents came to play at APO, the hot hot hot Balthazar Getty as Tom Grace and this blonde chick Rachel Gibson. And, um, Sy avenged and whatnot. And then Irina came back and was a caricature and THEY KILLED PEOPLE WHO HAD NO RIGHT DYING and Syd had a baby girl and Vaughn came back and my soul was destroyed when the series ended.

That was a very bd summary, I apologize. Rent it! At least season four, I looooove Season Four. Nadia! My lovely Nadia!
