Oct. 26th, 2009 09:33 pmSo, Sixes die. A lot. Clearly a disaster doesn't occur every time a Six dies (because that would be bananas,) but for three major events, a Six died just before shit got raw, and that was enough for me to make a connection. And so I give you:

"Get down."
Case #1
Six in question: Caprica Six
Death: Uses her body to shield her boyfriend from a nuclear blast.
Disaster it led to: Attacks on the Colonies.
Episode: the Miniseries.
So, okay. It wasn't exactly her death that precipitated this- but it was her actions, so yeah. And one might say that her explanation of it to Gaius, and her subsequent death saving his life led the fleet in an entirely different direction- her death lead to Gaius surviving, getting a Head Six, and making all kinds of crazy things happen. Oh, Caprica. The things you do for love.

"I'm not going to New Caprica."
Case #2
Six in question: Gina Inviere
Death: Detonates a nuclear warhead given to her by her pseudo-boyfriend and kills herself and plenty of others.
Disaster it led to: The New Capriasco
Episode: Lay Down Your Burdens, Pt II
Destroying the only fun ship in the fleet, the Cloud 9, was a disaster enough. But then we find out that the cylon occupation of New Caprica was directly caused by them tracing a nuclear signature left by a bigass nuclear explosion. Thanks, Gina! If she had, say, shot herself, the Cylons might've never found the humans, and then the New Capriasco wouldn't have happened. At least, not the -asco part, they were already on the planet.

"Father... give me the strength, the wisdom, and above all..."
Case #3
Six in question: HBIC Natalie Faust
Death: Gets shot twice by Athena.
Disaster it led to: The hybrid freaking out and jumping the baseship with the President aboard, general mayhem for two episodes.
Episode: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Sine Qua Non
The only Six whose death wasn't her choice, but rather by an eight who decides to flip out and shoot a Six simply because she... suddenly decided every Six is the same person, even though Natalie doesn't look exactly like the Six in the dream, and she has had discussions with the actual Six, who is having the same dream. YES, THIS DEATH IS BASED ON AN OVERREACTION DUE TO A DREAM. A DREAM! Had Athena not lost her cool, and maybe, I don't know, disciplined her daughter every now and again so she knew it wasn't acceptable behavior to run off every five minutes, Natalie wouldn't have died senselessly and tragically, the Hybrid wouldn't have flipped and jumped the ship and accidentally kidnapped the president, and Cylon-human relations would've been just that much better. Thanks, Athena!
So, there you have it. Three Sixes whose deaths immediately preceded shit getting real. Poor Sixes.
