Day 09 → A photo you took





I took this picture in Maine last summer, and it's seriously my favorite picture that I've ever taken.


I think is one of my favorite entries for this meme, because I love seeing pictures of people when they were younger.

Day 10 → A photo of you taken over ten years ago

I couldn't choose between these two, and they're both... oh, way older than ten years ago. Also, if you'll notice, I look EXACTLY THE SAME as I did twenty years ago. It's a bit unsettling.





Look, it is tiny me! This is what happens when you grow up in Florida, kids: you very rarely wear proper clothes, just sunsuits and baby bikinis. Also, yes, that is a whale on my sunsuit.

Awwww, baby Madi! Also: I genuinely had never even heard the term 'sunsuit' in my whole life until just now. Living in Alaska. This is what it does to you. What is a sun?

The sun is large and yellow and warm and bright. It is usually very good to us, and we love it.

I'm curious: did you grow up always wearing shoes and socks?

Pretty much, yeah? Although during the summer we would just run barefoot and wild outside, so there you go! Not always! It is actually capable of being warm there. (Or ... it used to be. This past summer it felt like it just rained the whole time. Whyyyy won't global warming pay any attention to us, WHY!) We have a creek in our backyard and we always used to play in it and stuff. Although, okay, my best friend growing up had this ~crazy cousin~ (seriously, I am thinking there was some vague sociopathy at work there!) who would pull the salmon out of the creek and leave them in our yard to die and rot. Which was ... not totally quaint & idyllic.

I remember the first time I came over to your house, and your mom pointed to that baby picture of you on your fridge. Your mom said something akin to, "This is my baby, Madi! My baby Madi used to have blonde, curly hair. Can you believe it?!"
