Bones tonight was like a piece of fanfiction filmed and put on television. I am totally positive that there are people in the Bones fandom exclaiming "THEY COPIED MY FIC, TEQUILA AND ALL" and flailing.

AND IT WAS A DELICIOUS CONFECTION UNTIL THEY BROKE MY HEART OH JEEZ.

NGL, I've watched the last scene of that episode going on probably 25 times.

25 TIMES. THAT IS A LOT.

Seeley Booth has ruined me for real men. I hope he's fucking proud of himself.

THE FINAL SCENE IS HEARTBREAKING. I only managed it the one time.

Seriously, is there a more perfect man than Seeley Booth? Find one. I dare you. (He's got some inner turmoil, just enough to make you want to hug him all day long, be he is strong, and kind, and self-sacrificing. He believes fiercely, and he loves completely. He's a good father. He's a good shot. He's a good man.) FIND A BETTER MAN. It can't be done.

I could wax poetic about all the reasons that Booth/Bones hits my kinks in ENTIRELY NEW WAYS (I'm usually one for emotionally repressed men and the BAMFy women who get under their skin (see: House/Cuddy, Jack/Irina, Sheldon/Penny, Spock/Uhura, CJ/TOBY, I MEAN REALLY, THIS IS MY BIGGEST KINK) and god, I so love that B/B just turn that on its head SO WELL) but just know this: I watched this episode through my fingers, for the most part, half embarrassed for them, half amazed that this was apparently exactly what I'd always wanted. And then they got to the last scene in Sweets' office, and Brennan said, "We're not in love with each other," and David did this thing, this little thing, where he looked down for just a moment, and I just knew that we weren't done.

That last scene broke my heart. I think the acting was outstanding. I've loved David from way back when, and Emily's always been adorable, but I mean seriously. "Please don't look so sad" has gone on my all-time favorite Bones quotes list (along with "That water was so hot" and "That's a lot of heart, Bones," for the record) and dude. It was so good. IT WAS SO GOOD.

I am obviously not quite over this episode. I thought I was but ... I was clearly wrong.

I am with you on every single one of those points, but for some reason, what really nailed it for me is that he's Catholic. Like, I don't consider myself religious at all, but in the back of my mind I kind of always assumed I'd end up with another Catholic, so when he like, crosses himself? Or talks about saints? FOR SOME REASON I FIND IT REALLY ATTRACTIVE I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

It's okay! I never really got the chance to discuss Bones, so I love seeing someone else's reactions. I also love their dynamic, and that dynamic in general, but omg, themmmm. AND THAT FACE BOREANAZ MADE DON'T EVEN. People kept reblogging the gif of it on tumblr and everytime it was like, *punch to the heart* because his little face and how earnestly he was declaring his love and the way Brennan was just heartbroken at her inability to change and his devastation and GOD SHOW JUST STOP. And then last week they were just frakking with us, what with the whole damn dancing scene. IN OR OUT, SHOW, YOU'RE BREAKING ME.

I watched the ep when the Canadian feed went out, so hardly anyone had seen it yet, and I was so shaken and flaily that I even scoured the Bones comm for reactions on their episode post. (And no, I don't really get to talk about Bones ever either, so PARDON ME WHILE I FLAIL AT YOU SOME MORE.)

The thing that most hits me RIGHT THERE is that when she pushes him away and says, "You thought you were protecting me, but you're the one who needs protecting," I just died. That line alone means that she has known about both his feelings and her own for a LOOOOONG time. Which is really incredible, because going all the way back to Mayhem on a Cross, when Gordon Gordon and Sweets conclude/confirm that one of them is very aware of their feelings, I always thought that it was Bones who knew. She just gives him this look, and puts his kerchief back in his pocket and pats his chest, and Emily does this thing with her eyes when she looks at David and then turns her gaze on Sweets, and MAN. I know that this show is usually just basically fanfic (THE CIRCUS EPISODE, I MEAN REALLY), but when it wants to be really amazing? It is really amazing. It's just a whole layer of depth to the characters that we didn't have before, and I think it's astonishing.

I'd love to hear DB&ED talk about their processes for the characters, when they knew that they were in love, when they sat down with Hart Hanson and said, "Okay, so Brennan, you're completely in love with Booth," and "Booth, you're in love with Bones but REPRESSION, MAN, AND ANGST." It just lines the past two seasons up so spectacularly.

I don't even know, man. This show. These two. THEIR FACES. They are incredible together, and it's amazing, and I love it. And it's beyond me how anyone watched that episode and wasn't ecstatic. Because I mean, yes, heartbreak (which I enjoy enough on its own), but to know that these two are so in love with each other and have such a deep and meaningful connection that even though they just decided that they couldn't risk romance, they still walk away arm in arm with tears in their eyes?!

I feel so guilty, cause I don't even have anything intelligent to flail back with. I'm mostly like, SHOW SHOWWWWWW and the actors and the love! Dear God the love! IT IS VERY WONDERFUL.

Hearing Boreanaz and Emily talk about it would be really epic. They give adorable commentaries.
