So, as some of you may know, my sister and I are in a competition with one another over who can make the other awesomer birthday cakes. As of right now, I am ahead by two years- here is the castle cake of 2008 and the rainbow cake of 2009.



I first got the idea after seeing a picture of it on tumblr, and then I found the original image on the blog Whisk Kid, where the recipe was really detailed and easy to follow. Also, the blogger was featured on Martha Stewart's show to make this cake, which I thought was pretty cool.

Also, I suck at packing, but I need to get good fast so that I can GO VISIT MONICA TOMORROW YAAAAY!

Thank you! I'm not that wild about it, because it's a vanilla cake, and I'm a chocolate girl, but it is rather colorful and bright!

Whoa!! I love this variant on the 2009 version.

Have you considered sending any of these to cake wrecks? I feel like they sometimes feature awesome amateur cakes.

Thanks, LP! Last year's cake was less stressful too, but not by a lot. Also, the creativity all comes from the internet- I just execute.
