So, as some of you may know, my sister and I are in a competition with one another over who can make the other awesomer birthday cakes. As of right now, I am ahead by two years- here is the castle cake of 2008 and the rainbow cake of 2009.

And this is the rainbow cake 2010! )

Also, I suck at packing, but I need to get good fast so that I can GO VISIT MONICA TOMORROW YAAAAY!

Greetings from my sunroom!

The warranty on my laptop is up in July, so today I took it in so that Best Buy could fix things wrong with it (the biggest issue being that the power button works one out of every SEVEN HUNDRED TRIES) before that's over and we have to pay for it. Sadly, it means I'll be without it for several weeks. Instead, I'm using the family desktop, which has a clacky keyboard and this insanely ginormous screen.

Today I went with my sister to get her senior portraits done. It was the most fun ever. For one, my sister is ridiculously gorgeous. For two, getting pictures taken is super fun. So that was nice and fun.

The main reason I'm posting is because I feel that everyone who reads this needs another example of my incredible weirdness. A few weeks ago, Mrs Hoppe gave me a vanilla cupcake with lemon curd and then meringue on top. I thought the lemon curd, which I had never had before, was the most fantastic thing I'd ever eaten in my life. I like, had dreams about this lemon curd, guys. So, finally I come home, and I have all the tools and lemons at my disposal, so I make some. And I make a cream cheese pound cake to go with it, and I zest and I juice and I simmer and I make the damn lemon curd, and then I chill it and eat it with the pound cake and by itself, and it is amazing and phenomenal and LEMON CURD, LEMON CURD FOR EVERYONE.

Literally, the next day I realized I didn't like it anymore. And not in an "I'm sick of it" way. I mean, literally, I do not like lemon curd, and I do not ever want to see it ever again.

Because I am insane. It's like my hating people in fandoms only reverse and about food.

THIS JUST IN: NITA IS WATCHING BSG AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO OVERJOYED AT SOMEONE ELSE JOINING A FANDOM IN MY LIFE.

So, my quest for the Best Sister Award continues apace. I am currently up 2-0 to Mel! Last year I made her a Castle Cake, this year I made her a RAINBOW CAKE.

And so I bring you Rainbow Birthday 2009!

Who is awesome? This moi. )

New piece of advice, as learned through experience:

If you can avoid it, do not get the flu before a hurricane comes. This will only be an agonizing experience for one and all. I am the poster child for Day/NyQuil, except for I didn't rest and have a good morning. I had a miserable night and I kind of want to die of teh sick. Right now I am amazingly hot because my fever just broke, but in a few minutes I'll be freezing again. This has been happening all day. Meh.

Newest hurricane update is that it'll be around me 8 AM tomorrow, and we're under a hurricane warning. The nervous baking count is:

- 3 chocolate mousse pie things
- 1 Coconut Cake
- 1 poundcake
- 1 batch of chocolate chip cookies
- 1 Apple Pie

Ollie, where are you in reference to the cone of death?
