1. OMG YOU GUYS TWO DAYS UNTIL D*C. I CAN'T EVEN BREATHE SOMETIMES FROM EXCITEMENT/NERVES.

2. I spent Irene in DC with Monica and Justin and their friends and where we were, it was like a glorified thunderstorm. Hearing about all the destruction it wreaked is kind of stunning compared to our experience- we had Monica's bridal shower, and then we had food delivered to her friend's house, where the power flickered three times but only went out once, and drove home with nary a problem. My flight wasn't delayed or anything!

3. Also it's three and a half weeks until Monica's wedding, which means it's about a month until I have to be in France and it makes me kind of want to throw up and panic and cry about why in God's name would I want to do this to myself and why would I say I wanted to live so far away and who does that, but then I calm down and it's exciting. I had my visa appointment and everything was okay!

4. Started watching and reading Game of Thrones! I have one episode left of the series and I'm about a fourth of the way through the book. Somehow this show grabbed both of my parents' attention, and in an unprecedented move, both of them are watching. It's not so weird for my mom- we watch a lot of the same shows, and she oftentimes watches shows after I recommend them except BSG because she's made of fail but my father has literally never watched a TV series. He watches the news, sporting events, history specials on wars and shows about cars, and suddenly he's watching GoT on demand all on his own. And then coming out to talk to me about it! It's amazing.

5. DRAGON*CON. WHAT TIME IS EVERYONE ARRIVING. WHAT IS EVERYONE PACKING. WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU'D RECOMMEND I BRING? WHO IS EXCITED?!

I will be there Saturday morning, woe! And I would say bring or purchase SNACKS. Good to have in long lines. And comfortable shoes, and a cardigan - the hotels are super cold, but it's hot outside.

Cardies save lives! Also watching panels on Con TV saves lives because lines are FUCKING LONG and you may have to get in line TWO HOURS OR MORE before a panel if the line even exists at that point, which it often doesn't. Patience. Crosswords/companions. Unlimited texting.

There should have been an S on the end of SERAS but we will forgive me, right? JE VAIS TE VOIR BIENTOT, MON ABEILLE.

I'M NOT IN A CON HOTEL, I CAN'T SEE CON TV. D: D: D: Also, since there are only four panels I really want to see (the BSG on Fri, Sat and Sun, and Carrie Fisher's) I figure I don't mind the lines? I'm hoping everything works out but we shall see! Also, I have my book to read if I am without companions in lines, though I hope to be!

Game of Thrones! ♥ I love the show so much. I just finished the first book and started on the second. I like them, aside from when he goes on and on about Ser Random from House Random's jewel encrusted cloak/tunic/blah blah blah...and it's like, dude, I honestly don't care about these stranger bitches' clothes.

I'm so jealous of all of you going to Dragon*Con! I hope it's ridiculously fantastic! :D

I just finished the last episode and OMG THIS SHOW AND ITS LIFE-RUINING QUALITIES. So far in the book I've liked all the details, but it might get tiresome after 800+ pages.

In my experience it has been, so I have high hopes for this one! You should try to come next year!

As for Game of Thrones, it is awesomeness squared. I read an article about GRRM in the New Yorker back in March, but didn't think I'd be into the show. THen, I accidentally happened to catch an episode one day and got hooked. Thank God for OnDemand!! I've watched the whole series twice and read all the books by now. I'm actually on my way through a second read through the books. GoT adheres pretty closely to the book. I think the casting was amazing, and the sets and direction and acting are all spot on. Let me know what you think when you finish reading the books. :)
