I know. I answered officially none of the prompts y'all gave me, and that is because I'm spending my entire life either (a) freaking out about going to France, (b) preparing while freaking out about going to France, and that's about the extent of it. I'm getting no joy out of this whatsoever. (I may actually try to deal with some of my anxiety by posting, but I really don't like to have extensive records of my crazy, and also I am fully aware of how ridiculous I sound with my first world white girl problems, and also I don't want to bore you all, and trust me, my issues aren't even fun to mock. They're that boring.)

So I thought, I will do the same meme that everyone else is doing! This will be fun!

What did you study in school and what was your dream job when you were younger?

I started off college was a poli sci major and then realized that I actually hated politics fiercely. So then I was like, oh noes, what do I want to study? I chose against English because my friend Monica was doing it at the time and it involved so much reading and I chose against history for reasons I no longer recall, and that left one thing I could conceivably be good at: French.

I totally failed to make the connection that majoring in French would be similar to majoring in English in that I'd have to read all the time, only in French.

ETA: I missed the second part of the question! Um, I wanted to be famous. Not due to the actual fame part- I just wanted to be famous enough that people wanted to interview me. I wanted to do late-night talk shows and magazine articles and stuff.

What is the one place in France you are most looking forward to exploring?

Pretty much everywhere, actually! I've only ever been to Paris, so just leaving the city to go where I'll be teaching will be an adventure! But I really hope to see the coast- Normandy beaches, Etretat, Mont St Michel- and the south. I would love to go on a total castle binge, too. I want to see all the churches, castles, palaces, gardens and culturally relevant places I can possibly consume because I am a total history dork and I've been studying French history since I was a little girl and omg omg omg omg France.

I will probably LJ a lot and post pics on fbook? I also might start a blog so my family can see, but I'm not entirely sure.

Describe a typical day in your life (pre-France freakoutfrenzy). ;)

Ugh, embarrassingly, it's like, "get up and play on the internet all day." Employment has been spotty for the last year since I graduated and moved back home, and even when I had it, most of it has been at random times or with weird schedules, so the typical day involved me being the queen of the internet. This is one of the giant reasons I applied to teach in France- it promised to get me off the couch. (I also suffer from the fact that I moved back home and away from college friends, and I have no desire to see friends from high school more than maybe once a year, so it's basically been me and my mother best friending it up, which sounds pretty lame but I don't mind [aside from the fact that people pretty much think I'm a dork.])

What's your favorite time of year?

You know, I don't think I really have one! I think a lot of people base their favorite seasons on temperature and living where I do, there isn't a huge variance- last winter we literally had seven days of cold- and the rest of the winter was spent in the upper 70s-mid 80s. For social reasons I always loved the return to school in the fall (big old nerd here) and of course I loved being let out for summer vacation, and I loved the holidays in winter...

I guess I would say my favorite time is around my birthday and Christmas- I've recently grown to love the hubbub around the holiday season and the music and the decorations...

5'5". It's allegedly average height, but compared to most people I know, I am incredibly short and it's very sad. (My younger sister is 5'10".)
