So, here's the thing they never tell you about working with tincy kids: they're heavy. I've got all these random sore muscles from holding babies, or from leaning back while sitting with a baby so they weren't uncomfortable, etc. etc. It's a really random soreness too.

I really enjoy my job, though. It's a bit ridiculous.

[livejournal.com profile] yubsie asked for me to answer this meme with BSG, Alias and Xena

Comment to this entry and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

BSG

1. Back in November 2008, Mary McDonnell guest starred on Grey's. So, at first I was just all, oh wow, she looks a lot like Lena Olin! This is awesome! And mentioned it to Yubs, who also watches Grey's. And she's all, Oh that's President Laura Roslin, she's awesome, etc etc. And I kind of ignored her because what did I care about some President in some sci fi show? I was only vaguely intrigued because, you know, Mary McDonnell looks like Lena Olin and is beautiful and I dug that. And Yubs would occasionally say interesting things after the episodes MM guest starred in, like "Laura was the secretary of education" and I was like HOW THE HELL DID SHE BECOME PRESIDENT THEN? but I only cared a little because GODDAMMIT I DO NOT NEED ANY MORE SHOWS. JESUS CHRIST.

Anyway, long story short, the night of the BSG series finale came, and I had had HAD to know what happened to Lauroslin Laura Roslin, because Yubs told me she thought that she or Papadama Bill would die. So I looked it up on the wiki. And literally based on its answer and context, I turned on Sci Fi and watched the finale. Cried my fool eyes out, too, which was pathetic.

And promptly downloaded the miniseries. And the watched it. And two months later I am the proud owner of three DVD sets and have lost my fool mind. So, yeah. <3

2. I don't know! I'm bad at this sort of thing. I was thinking earlier about how I probably thought at the time I'd remain more into Buffy than I am now. But I'm pretty stubborn, so we'll see.

3. I really really like The Hub and the Mutiny arc. I mostly like scenes. AND THE FAT LEE ARC.

4. I talk about it all the damn time. And I've written four fics. And started at least three others. And thought about several more. So, yeah, a bit involved.

5. Absolutely. And I take my obligation to recruit people very seriously.

Alias

1. Yeah, everyone loves this story.

So... a hundred years ago, I was BFFs with Monica. I still am, but I mean, I was then too, and we were both Star Wars fans and yay. And then she started watching Alias. AND SUDDENLY IT WAS ALL SHE CARED AND WOULD TALK ABOUT. THAT WAS IT. And I was so freaking angry that she had abandoned me for a new fandom. (I was a lame 15-16 year old.) And I was bitter on several levels. For one, spies, whatever. Two, I thought Sydney was an ugly name. And thirdly, Mr Andrews had a gun. What the hell. But Monica pestered me, so I was like, FINE. FINE I WILL RENT THE DVD AND WHATEVER, I WILL WATCH THE PILOT AND DISLIKE IT AND THEN YOU CAN LEAVE ME ALONE.

So Christmas Eve 2003, I popped in the DVD before mass. And I was instantly hooked. Like, went out the two days later (damn holiday!) to buy the first two seasons. I watched those two seasons in three days, marathon-style. And it grabbed me like nothing else.

2. I still am part of the fandom! It was the one I participated in the most, and I still love it. Alias is my #1 true love of fandoms.

3. All the books are genius. Genius. I don't know what episode is my favorite... I really love The Orphan, and Phase One, and Truth Takes Time, and The Horizon and I LOVE ALIAS.

4. Um, hell yeah. I've written more fic than it for anything, and I've done ficathons and currently belong to a rewatching group, so, yeah.

5. Yes. It was woefully underpopulated. At the same time, I'm glad not everyone was in it like Grey's. Backlash and all.

Xena

1. Oh jeez. Um, I think I saw an episode on a Saturday afternoon when I was like, eleven, and I got intrigued and started watching. To this day I haven't seen, like, 60% of the series. I could tell you about it, but I never saw it.

2. I definitely moved on. To be fair, if I was still in that fandom ten years later it'd be both amazing and sad.

3. Old Ares Had a Farm! You Are There! For Him the Bell Tolls! THE BITTER SUITE.

4. I, uh, did. Let's leave it at that.

5. Absolutely. LET'S RESURRECT THIS FANDOM LIKE GABS AND XENA WAKING UP IN THE ICE CAVE.
