From [livejournal.com profile] yubsie:
List the first lines of your last twenty stories. See if you find any patterns.

1. Her heart stops when she walks into their quarters to see only Bill's feet on the floor behind a bulkhead.

2. In all the many permutations she had imagined for her life, this was not one.

3. "One day," she says, "You're going to tire of watching me die."

4. Bill reads because she likes to listen; he reads because he's afraid of what his gaze says.

5. The archival of music was an idea that had been toyed with since almost the beginning of their exodus.

6. Laura is dreaming of a gods' banquet when the screams start at the north end of town and work their way up tent city.

7. This is the sort of thing she thinks while she's alone: He is what she has made him.

8. Emily takes Sydney to therapy once a week from December until March.

9. She receives the file on a Monday morning.

10. Her father is a quiet man, used to leaving the decisions to his wife by his own choice.

11. She shows up at his apartment two nights later.

12. The objective of the mission was simple: Walk into the club, catch the eye of the owner, get him to take her to his office.

13. Nadia had originally felt pride at this assignment.

14. His hand on Irina's wrist was less authoritative than he meant it to be.

15. They had decided not to evacuate.

16. "He's a business man in New York," Katya said with disdain as she packed a small satchel.

17. "I think I should be more surprised," Jack said to Irina as he took a seat next to her, "that the hype is true."

18. There is a sharp crack before a white light, and when Sydney opens her eyes, nothing sounds the same.

19. "I think Heaven is like a bar," Will said as he sipped his third beer.

20. She isn't sure that she believes in true love any longer.

Er, based on this, I can tell that I like making statements, even if I'm using dialogue. And I've started with a lot more dialogue than I would've thought, solely because I try to get by on as little dialogue as possible. Also, my first lines tend to be very dramatic.

In other news, I'm home! I also want to point out that, in true me fashion, because I am nothing if not predictable, every time I watch BSG again I love more and more people. The second time round it was Kara Anne Thrace, and this time it's the lovely Red, which I'm sure has something to do with [livejournal.com profile] dollsome's mad crazy adoration of her.

Clearly you need to stop never going to watching things.

Yep. That sentence TOTALLY made sense. :p

I know! I've learned my lesson when it came to hating characters, so now I'm going to have to accept it for programs as well.

I DID BUT I KNEW THAT WAS NOT GOING TO LAST. I'm pretty sure I prefaced at least a few declarations of hatred with "I'm sure this will change, but"

Thanks to #16, I am now humming Sting's "Englishman in New York"...

Is that a good or a bad thing?

It's absolutely a good thing. Very catchy tune, one I'd forgotten about until I read #16, and thought, "Isn't that a Sting song? No, but it's close!" Yeah, I'm a dork.
