It is cold and rainy, which it never really is in Gainesville, so while I'm horrified I'm also intrigued. I'm going to have to wear my snow boots when I go to the Navigators meeting tonight because I have no real footwear that's appropriate for rain alone, let alone rain + cold.

I just spent just under $200 on textbooks. Logically, I know it's not that much, but goddamn did it hurt to spend that much on things I won't much appreciate.

I did see Philly today- she actually came through!- and we had a very nice time. I'm not sure that we'll see too much of one another, but it was nice seeing her. I also saw Chloe for the first time on campus pretty much ever and I was delighted.

I wish I had an icon with an umbrella or something. The weather is taking over my liiiiife.

Classes were good today. My French teacher isn't French, which irks me, but not a lot. Her French is good, mind you, but I've always had teachers either from France or Haiti, so this is a bit of a shock. And my Spanish teacher is from Spain, so his accent is all blech and I still really want Belkis's class. Sigh.

After class I went with Paige, her roommate Jacqui and their friend Maxine on the bus of campus. I've never taken the bus off campus. It was an adventure! We went to the target copy on Archer, and then to Publix, and then we trekked across three parking lots with a grocery cart and ate dinner at steak and shake. It was pretty awesome.

I also saw Chloe today before my classes today, and that was really nice. She called so I went to the Hub to meet her and it was good. I miss her sometimes. Also, Katie wasn't there today, but she is on the roster in my French class. Woo.

I'm pretty obsessed with Atonement. It's just not good. I finished the book yesterday, basically in one sitting, and it was amazing. I'm dying to go see it again. DYING. It was truly a cinematic marvel that I intend to extoll in great length, preferably after a second viewing. But let me just say: the movie and the book were astonishingly amazing. Phenomenal. Really. I want everything Cecilia and Robbie.

We're watching The Passage this week for [livejournal.com profile] the_retelling, and I already watched it once, and oh man. Both parts of this episode are awesome, but I'm so glad I got the first part, because: the watch + the Perfect SpyFam

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly (No lyric hunting! That is cheating!)

In other news, I am trying to stave off depression due to day two of being ditched by my roommate (depression and anger, because q9JKLFNZSIULFHJZG ZNSIUFH!~i#!u$*y), so if there's anything fun on the interwebz, please share. My sense of humor is base, I enjoy many things.

So, basically a few hours after my last post Chloe and I made up, and things are soooo much better now it's ridiculous, but I'm slightly wary at how long it will last, but I'm hoping for the best.

Since I last posted, I:

- chose my dorm room for next semester, which is right next door to the room I have right now, and, for the moment, I'm living with this friend of Amelia's who is a nice, brilliant girl named Milana.

- Did a paper for Anthropology

- did a Spanish oral exam

- did my Comparative Politics midterm

- and got into the Lenten spirit, kinda sorta with going to Ash Wednesday mass. Man oh man do I hate the church here. There are two other churches in the area, but they require vehicles I don't possess and this one is soooo close. So I suffer.

I went out to dinner tonight with Ollie and Chelsea and had a fabulous time, but I accidentally got a chicken salad sandwich to eat by accident. I was going in there to order a salad and then bam. All thoughts of not eating meat left my head. I'm sorry, Jesus!

Next weekend is my cousin's wedding and I'm going to Saratoga for it, yay. And I ordered a fabulous new iPod. Jess, when you see this, come online! I need to talk to you!

And a happy early birthday to MONICA! Who is no longer a teenager as of tomorrow.

Me and Chloe made up! It only took 5.5 days of silence!

(And to prove to all of you who didn't believe that I get over everything, and very fast: it was basically "you had me at hello" once Chloe came over to talk to me. Because I knew the fight was over and I was just like yesssss.)

Still silent here at 218, and at this point I don't even care anymore. I wrote an angry letter to Chloe on notepad that's still on my harddrive, but there's no way in hell I'd give it to her, even though it's all true. I'd like to say that I could stand on principle and not be her friend even if she got it in her head to get over herself, but I'm not like that, and once she starts chatting again I'll be so relieved I'll just let it go. Happily, Katie and I have made up, mostly.

The silent treatment is actually down on the wikipedia as abuse. I'm mostly at the point where I don't care anymore, but there's a part in me- a jagged, red-glowy part- that is so crazy angry I don't know if I'll ever look at her the same.

I'm sick, but I got a haircut, so it evens out.

However, Katie's sick too, and she's throwing up, so I just hope it doesn't happen to me. Right now I just have a crazy cough and a headache. Meh, stupid sickness.

Marie Antoinette is playing in an hour, and right now I don't know if I can actually handle seeing it in a theatre. My head hurts. Maybe if I lie down... hm.

Chloe and me shopped all day and altogether had a fabulous time. I love my roommate!

So, my mini birthday celebration was tonight, because we aren't going to be in Gainesville for my birthday and Katie and Chloe planned this whole lovely gathering.

People think I'm nineteen now. )
