For the first time... ever, I think... there's a fire alarm and it's not my building! It's another one! With the fire trucks and everything, not me! Mwahaha!

Today was pretty good. I thought we had an in-class essay in Spanish, which we did not, and it only rained a little bit while I was walking to class, before clearing up to a beautiful, if a bit chilly, day. Me and Paige have already completed out Spanish project for Friday, too, which is awesome, and I also received a Valentine's Day package from my family, which has all kinds of lovely treats for me.

(And I got my $100 deposit back from the school. Win.)

I missed the episode that was on last night of Bones because I went to see a production of 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' with the Hoppes. I like Bones.

(Know what else I like? Alias. And I'm trying so hard to write. I miss fics.)

Also, third and final heads up about the friends cut thing. Just FYI.

I'm posting now because Paige wants me to go with her to Taco Bell and I don't want to miss a day of posting four days into the month.

Today I had a conversation about my future with my mother, which boils down to: you better figure out what the hell you want to do and fast. Which is bad because I have no idea. My mom suggested government work, which would be cool, but basically they'd assign me somewhere and I'd have to go. And there are very few places I'd be happy moving to (home, somewhere in California, New York City and the suburbs around it, and the areas between Albany and Saratoga Springs). And I have no idea what I'd be good at. What do people do in those wee cubicles?

My problem is that in my head I'm seven years old, and therefore expect myself to grow up into someone extremely talented, extremely good looking, and perfect celebrity material. It hasn't happened yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Okay, world! I've had enough tests for one week, thank you! I had one yesterday, one tomorrow, and one Friday. And my brain hurts, I say! It hurts! And for some reason my science grade isn't up yet.

My brain has this annoying habit of getting one teeny piece of music stuck like a broken record player. Not a full song, just a snippet. Like, this has happened twice with the music from Atonement- not the soundtrack, mind you, but one tiny piece of music from when Robbie is watching that French movie. The music from that movie- this one tiny piece, over and over again. It happened last week with the music from La Boheme in that movie too. It's no fun.

I had dinner with Paige and Jacqui and Paige's boyfriend today. We got to watch "My Cousin Vinny," which is such an amazing movie, it's kind of ridiculous.

So, there's this crazy girl who lives down the hall from me whom I may or may not have mentioned, but: bitch crazy. It's gotten to the point where I hurry past her room for fear that she'll hear me and come out. Anyway, last night at 5:45 I was woken up because, for some reason, she was in Sasha's room, giggling this nails-on-a-chalkboard giggle. She came in when I got from Paige's tonight to apologize, because her military boyfriend came to visit her on leave, they had sex, she needed to pee so she wrapped herself in a towel and got locked out. She was also drunk.

Note: I met this girl like, two weeks ago. I knew her entire life story within an hour, AND I knew about the state of her virginity. NOW I KNOW EVEN MORE. It's all, EW TMI thanks.

So, last night at 1:30 I check my school email, and there's a package notification. This was totally bewildering, seeing as I haven't ordered anything yet and my mom is actually assembling a care package, so I made Sasha shlep down to the commons with me.

It was a package from Monica! She is totally made of win. She sent me:

- A Madeline T-shirt, the yellow one from Delia's I didn't have.
- A little tote bag from Harrod's
- Virginia peanuts
- A present for my mom from Ireland I wasn't supposed to open but I did by accident.
- A ~*~homemade~*~ foam frame around a picture of us.
- An AWESOME mixed CD with a cover and everything, and painstakingly colored-in letters. It has the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Cher, Gunther, Rihanna, JT, Hugh Grant... it is a mix of CHAMPIONS. The last song on the CD is "You're My Best Friend" by Queen, and just that alone was enough to get a HUGE smile on my face.

The heat is on now, though, to match this for my Christmas/birthday package to her. So.

I had a pretty awesome day. My French class with the American teacher was very, very tolerable, so I now have a bit of hope. After Spanish I went to Taco Bell with Paige, and then we hung out for the rest of the night, including watching "A Very Long Engagement," which... was not my favorite. Paige likes it more than Atonement and said I would too, and I was all, um, probably not? And I think my main problem was that there was so much going on that I couldn't focus on anything in particular, and I hated the war stuff, and some of it was really sad. The ending was adorable though. So if I am so inclined to see it a second time, I'd probably really like it.

(Speaking of Atonement, I get to see it again this weekend. BECAUSE I OWN ALL.)

When I was going up to my room, Paige called up the stairs (as she graciously agreed to walk me back to my dorm) "I'm really glad we're Biffles!" By Biffles she means BFFLs, which is Best Friend For Life (I believe) and it was just so cute. I like friends!

Classes were good today. My French teacher isn't French, which irks me, but not a lot. Her French is good, mind you, but I've always had teachers either from France or Haiti, so this is a bit of a shock. And my Spanish teacher is from Spain, so his accent is all blech and I still really want Belkis's class. Sigh.

After class I went with Paige, her roommate Jacqui and their friend Maxine on the bus of campus. I've never taken the bus off campus. It was an adventure! We went to the target copy on Archer, and then to Publix, and then we trekked across three parking lots with a grocery cart and ate dinner at steak and shake. It was pretty awesome.

I also saw Chloe today before my classes today, and that was really nice. She called so I went to the Hub to meet her and it was good. I miss her sometimes. Also, Katie wasn't there today, but she is on the roster in my French class. Woo.

I'm pretty obsessed with Atonement. It's just not good. I finished the book yesterday, basically in one sitting, and it was amazing. I'm dying to go see it again. DYING. It was truly a cinematic marvel that I intend to extoll in great length, preferably after a second viewing. But let me just say: the movie and the book were astonishingly amazing. Phenomenal. Really. I want everything Cecilia and Robbie.

We're watching The Passage this week for [livejournal.com profile] the_retelling, and I already watched it once, and oh man. Both parts of this episode are awesome, but I'm so glad I got the first part, because: the watch + the Perfect SpyFam

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly (No lyric hunting! That is cheating!)

I got a 60 on my math test. And while to some of you that might seem like a failure, because it is still a failing grade, to me it is a VICTORY. It means that while I can get 35s and 40s without studying, when I study, I can actually get grades that will allow me to get a C in the class. WHICH IS ALL I ASK FOR.

Today was my last day in Spanish, and we had a little party for the end of the year/Paige's birthday, and when it was over Paige, Melissa and I walked with Belkis and wound up talking for like, a half hour. I reaaaally want to get Belkis again next semester, so I'm desperate for these other people to drop the class so Paige and I can get in. :( Melissa is going to Paris.

(My computer's keyboard sticks like a mofo and it makes me so sad, because then it looks like I'm making typos when I'm not, it's just the damn keys. Dammit.)

Last night to celebrate my victory, I read this Nadia fic because I need more Nadia in my life, como siempre. My life can finally return to lazy normalcy, at least until this weekend, when it once again becomes cram-time.

Also, I can now start actually hosting "Salvation" at [livejournal.com profile] the_retelling

So, I am officially in the clear. The guy just wanted to give me a chance to explain my side of the story, and he showed me the email the lady had sent me, (wherein she claimed that I called her a bitch to her face.) Based on his demeanor, I wouldn't be surprised if she'd pulled shit like this before. Awesomely, though, there is absolutely no record of me ever having been called there, so my immaculate record maintains its immaculosity.

Also, I got my schedule for next semester figured out, and it is awesome. I got every class I wanted and the times are pretty great. So I'm very happy. Also, at this time next week my family will be here!

(I guess the downside to my day was that I found out that my predicted grade in French grammar is a B. Not even a B+. I'm not a perfectionist by any means, and I don't expect to have all As... but a B. In French. It makes me very sad. I hate grammar.)

(On a happy note, my friend Paige is going to be in my Spanish class next semester. And she loves Alias. And Buffy. And Mia Maestro. I found this out because my Spanish teacher was talking about movies done in Spanish and was suggesting titles, and one of them was Secuestro Express, which, hi, I've seen about three times, and I was like !! and Paige and I went to go rent it and I mentioned "the sister from Alias" was in it and Paige was like OMG MIA MAESTRO? I LOVE HER. And I was like OMG ME TOO because, really, how often does that happen? Never. And then she asked if I had seen Tango and I was like, no, seriously, you are my favorite friend. Really.)
