Sometimes seeing people from my high school is stilted and awful, because I didn't know them that well and I feel like we have to talk because I did know them and they're a part of my past and therefore they need to be conversed with. For example, Christine Tomayo.

Other times, seeing people from high school is awesome. Today coming back from math I ran into Blake, who I was never that close to, but it was so natural to be talking to him. And doing a cheek-kiss! The only person who I do that too who isn't from Miami is Ollie. I get away with hugs from Chloe, Amanda and Chelsea, but it is so weird going to dinner and having a people arrive and having no round of kisses.

I'm going home again this weekend for the most inconveniently timed wedding of all time. It's my cousins' cousin Danielle's wedding, and we spent most holidays growing up with them, so it's not like it's such a stretch. And it should be an absolutely fabulous wedding, but I was just home last weekend, and I'm going home for winter break the 13th so, meh.

And I've been giving this a lot of thought:

Stars That Have Incurred A Lifetime of Goodwill.

List celebs that can do no wrong in your eyes and why.

Oh, Celebs. )

I just happen to suck at updating.

It was homecoming this weekend, so my parents and sister came up (YAY) and we went to Gator Growl and the game and it was all fabulous. The two comedians that came to GG were hysterical- I'm still saying "hot pockeeeeeets". And the funny thing was that I found that I never liked football before, but the idea of skipping a game- the homecoming game, no less- was completely abhorrent. Even though my mom was in town, I had to go to the game. And it was so intense and we beat LSU so bad.

It was nice to see my family- I miss everyone so much. My mom brought all sorts of things to beautify my room, including six posters and curtains and a dehumidifier (which has its work cut out for it) and I got a dress for my cousin's wedding- it's so beautiful!

My mom also brought me the Alias mag and I actually read this one (usually I'm awful and just look at the pretty, pretty pictures.) It was very nice and they had cute interviews with just about everyone... huh, not with Carl Lumbly (whom Jen Garner thinks should be president) or Grunberg or Lena, but with Jen and Victor and Vartan and my love, Mia. Very nice overall.

Then Chang was in town, so I spent all afternoon with her and Corinne, which culminated in dinner at The Swamp, and it was so nice, and I miss Chang Chang so much.

Then I came back to my room and Chloe and I invited Katie over, and we watched the Alias pilot. I got them hooked. I win at life, guys.

And then we watched Brothers and Sisters )

I! Am! At! Home!

I am currently sitting on our new couches, on my laptop, which now uses wireless internet, in front of Moulin Rouge, which is playing on the ridiculously big new television my parents bought. My family is living the high life without me. In addition to all these changes, there is also a large TV in my room (I have NEVER had a TV in my room before), new dining room chairs, and new hedges out front.

It is so nice to be home! The drive up was pretty nice, aside from a few bouts of Biblical Rain, Ollie and I had a fun time jamming to Josephine II in Leonard. Then I got to see all of Ollie's hometown and her house and her familia and her beautiful, wonderful dog Gracie.

But now I am home! With my family and it's wonderful here and I'll get to shower without shoes and sleep in my own bed! And Jess comes tomorrow! And Shakira on Saturday!

Life is good.

First off, I cannot say enough nice things about the fine people at Glarkware. I've bought three Alias t-shirts from them (Who's Your Spy Daddy?, Sydney's wig outlet, and The Rambaldis) and I loved them all to death. So recently I ordered the VAUGHN! shirt and received it yesterday.

It had two holes in it! Waah. Not like, gunshot holes like in Vaughn, but actual "oops, holes" holes.

So I emailed them, and I got a prompt email just asking for my order number. Once they were sure it was true, they said that they'd send me a new one, no exchange necessary. It was all taken care of within 12 hours and I am so thrilled.

Secondly, I went to dinner with my dad's family. It was a huge group of us- me, Mom, Dad, Mel, my cousins Natali, Yoyo, Janelle and my Madrina, my Padrino and Tia Mabel, my Madrina's husband Tommy and Janelle's husband Juan and their baby Jaylen. We went to El Novillo, and I haven't seen them since the day of prom when we were baptizing Jaylen. It was really nice talking to everyone and it calmed my nerves talking to them about UF and what was going on. And I got toasted and it was nice, and I got a very generous present from them for graduation but it was a very nice last night here. I also saw Talisa for the last time (waaaaaah!) and took my last shower here and wow. I have no idea what I'm going to do tomorrow at six AM when I have to leave.

Today was my last day in NY, and we said goodbye to everyone, and saw Aunt Amy and Uncle David for the first time. This trip was very different in many ways.

I went to see Jeannie's wedding dress, and then we hung out with the babies at Mare Mare's house before Jeannie took me, Katie and Mel to dinner. It's so weird that we won't be with Katie. I say this at the end of every trip.

Tomorrow we're leaving early and driving to Nica's house. Yay!

Hiiiiii, Livejournal.

I always forget what it's like here, seeing people. It's so weird staying here without my grandmother and all her pets- at first it was just my mother, my sister, my dog and me, and it was super weird. The next day we visited Gramma at the home (which is pretty nice, considering) and went to Mare Mare's to see her and Carolyn and the babies. Chloe (6) and Christine (3) are so ridiculously big, and it makes me feel old. I'm eighteen. That's just not right. Then when we went home, Julie and Katie came over, and Katie spent the night.

Today we visited Gramma again, and went to Mary's and saw Care and the babies, and then we went to Julie's house and saw Larry and Caroline. Amy and David are going away this week, so we haven't seen them, and Jeannie is with her fiancé at his lake house in New Hampshire, and I still haven't seen Little Amy or Briana. I am realizing now that I have many relatives.

The one thing I never forget is how much fun I have when Katie's around. She fits in so well with me and Mom and Mel, and we miss her so keenly when we leave.

Ficathon is due in two days (gulp) and I still haven't gotten my room assignment at UF, dammit. Carol did. Ollie? Have you heard anything?

There is, sometimes, occasionally, an internet connection here. Probably stealing from some neighbor or another, but... but... internet! Sometimes!

This morning we left Nica's (:-() and we went through Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and a lot of New York.

Now we're at Gramma's, and a lot of things are gone. Which is to be expected, as she hasn't lived here for a year and she won't use the stuff anymore, because she's in a nursing home, but it's bizarre. Also? There is no phone, no TV and no computer. This is my laptop! Yay!

I HAVE CONNECTIVITY!

Today, Mom, Mel and I got manicures and pedicures, which would've been a completely fantastic experience if only my little asian manicure man hadn't been a total jerk when I asked him to fix one of my toes, which had gotten screwed up. But other than that, it was awesome. And we got to go shopping for food and entertainment for tomorrow.

As much as I know (mostly) that I'm going to have fun, I am so, so sad to be leaving. I like home.

The plan is to drive as far as possible tomorrow, then stop in Richmond the next day to stay at Nica's house (because, we must.) And then we keep going until we hit NY.

(Happily, though, my mom got us a DVD player, and I have my laptop, and we have like, a hundred DVDs. One disc of Gilmore Girls, about eleven of Alias, and a bunch of assorted films, and Mom and I got "Learn Spanish!" CDs for the cars, aaaaaand I got an Eva Peron biography. Yaaaay. I told you I'd get one, Tess.)

And then, in NY, we're staying at my grandmother's house. She's living in a nursing home now, but my mom and her sisters haven't sold the house yet, so we can stay there. But there's no cable and there's no phone. Which means I'm going to have hardly any internet time until I get home.

This means that I need to finish the ficathon fic ASAP, and either make it to a Starbucks or something, or send it to Nica or Tess of Hannah to post in my stead. Or something.

So, comments and posts will be few, except for maybe a few desperate voice posts now and then.

Ugh.

We closed on the apartment building today (HURRAH!) which means that when my parents got home we all went out to dinner, and dear sweet lord. An amazing plateful of shrimp cooked in different ways, a salad, their little cheesy biscuits, and dessert, and I am like, the biggest pig of all time and I am regretting it now, but we had a pretty good time. For us. Being as we are.

I finished "The White Countess" today, and, hee, it was a Merchant and Ivory film, which just sounds so, so old-fashioned, like the kind of partnership you would see on an advertisement for soap in the early 1900s. Anyway, the film had a surprisingly happy ending that neither my sister nor I saw coming, and I just love Ralph Fiennes and Natasha Richardson.

Turns out Natasha Richardson plays the narrator (who I believe is named June in the book, but I don't think we know definitively) in "The Handmaid's Tale," and it just doesn't work for me at all, I don't know why. I do know that Faye Dunaway as Serena Joy is just about the best casting ever of all time. Man, do I love Faye Dunaway.

As everyone else has family that they hang out with, Nica and me are the only ones who have been online all day. I love Nica. She's kept me company.

Dinner was good. We made up the table real nice and we actually got dressed for it- Mel and I in black dresses, Mommy in a slinky pantsuit and Daddy in a nice shirt and pants. The turkey was phenomenal and everything else was delicious, so yaaaaay for good times. And? My family is just crazy. We do the weirdest things. It's so much fun.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have divorced. I am teh sad.
