1. pick 20 of your favorite movies.
2. go to imdb and find a quote from each movie.
3. post them here for everyone to guess.
4. strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. no googling / using imdb search or other search functions. DON'T CHEAT.

I just saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona and it was absolutely amazing. I am really not a good movie reviewer so here are my thoughts, in list form:

I'm notoriously intolerant. )

So, let me just say, I do know that my last few posts have been me-watching-TV and then flailing, but, in this case, it's justified: ABC Family is playing the Cinderella from 1997 and Victor Garber is the King, and oh my god. He is so awesome. For one, he was wearing a hot pink brocade coat, and being wryly awesome with his wife, Whoopi Goldberg. And between them, they produced... an asiany kid. Because this movie is all about ignoring races, to an awesome result. I also have an intense soft spot for this movie because I watched the movie version with Leslie Ann Warren and Ginger Rogers when I was wee and loving the music and I do love all musicals, BUT. This movie is particularly awesome because: Victor Garber.

Last night after my cousin's graduation party, my mom and I watched Yentl and, holy lord, guys. I mean, I know that really, it's a girl, but the amount of faux ho!yay was enough to get me giggling. And then Amy Irving was there in her early eighties glory, which, again, makes me all, "hi, Sloane did not need to cheat cause he had an ugly wife," because she was gorgeous, if a bit frizzy. Also, there are so many things wrong with the whole idea of that story.

Also, there's not much to do here in Miami. I was too late to register for summer A at MDC, so all that was left was summer B or 12 week classes and that doesn't work, so: slightly screwed. And I still don't have a place to live. Woe.

*hugs internet*

Last night, as if it were a big prank, the wireless internet went out. Okay, I can handle that. So I try to get on dialup, but even that wasn't working. It was very distressing.

So, my mom had her car in the shop and the dealership gave us a loaner, and since it wasn't a stick shift, I got to drive it. Now I just hate my mom more for getting a stick shift because the car is very, very fun to drive.

And we saw Knocked Up! It was so, so funny, and I spent the entire movie laughing and I loved it.

I am scheduled to work tonight from 9-12. What a random time for my second day of work, but whatever.

ETA: God help me, but I am now totally, totally obsessed with Elizabeth/Norrington. Why. Whyyyyy me? The ship name is Norribeth for God's sake.

So, I saw Evening this morning and it was pretty good. A very pretty movie: pretty sets, pretty people (omg pretty people.) Meryl Streep's daughter was a Meryl doppelganger, and a good little actress. Claire Danes was a pure delight, and Patrick Wilson and Hugh Dancy were big with the pretty. Absolutely. It would be a gorgeous film to have icons of.

Also? I love the movie Forrest Gump. Mostly because I love narration. Kind of the way I love story songs. And Tom Hanks's accent is delightful.

And now, the long-awaited reveal of the person I hate most on Grey's:

Surprise, Surprise )

So, I did it. I applied for three jobs.

- American Eagle
- Bath and Body Works
- Urban Outfitters

At American Eagle, the manager terrified me. When I turned in my application he barked "Tomorrow at two!" Not, "can you come in tomorrow at..." or "can you make it at..." No. "Tomorrow at two!" On Mother's Day, hello.

In Bath and Body Works, it seemed okay, but the interview isn't until Wednesday at seven and...

I applied at Urban Outfitters, where they were the nicest to me, and the atmosphere is the coolest. The interview is at 11:30 on Tuesday.

I would've applied at the bookstore, but the only position available was at the cafe, and no thanks.

So. Dun dun dunnnnn.

My sister and I saw "Waitress" with Felicity and Mal. And it was entirely delightful and I was absolutely enchanted by Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion. I mean, wow. It was great. [livejournal.com profile] scarlett7188, you would really like it.

(1) I am all about TV shows having their own music. I definitely loved Michael Giacchino for Alias's original music; it added something special.

However, the strummy la las on Gilmore Girls drives me crazy. Crazy! All they do is act like they forgot the words! And strum! The guitar! It was cute at first, but I am so sick of it. As sick as I am of "Where You Lead." Arg.

(2) They keep showing ads for "Step Up" or whatever that new dance movie is, and now I actually want to see it. It seems all Dirty Dancingish! I was about to say something like "I love dance movies!" but I really don't. I was the girl who always fastforwarded through lengthy dance sequences in old musicals, such as Oklahoma or Singin' in the Rain. And I love the ad and the posters and even the damn font they're using for the posters. I probably won't see it anyway, just because... it probably isn't worth $7 student admission.

(3) I am fiiinally getting my haircut tomorrow. And it's kind of freaking me out because I knew that was one of the main things I knew I had to do before going away and... I'm going to do it. Oh man.

(4) I got a letter from UF telling me about the rooming situation and what's going on with my temporary triple and stuff. I still haven't heard from the second roommate.

I was going to do this entry about my day, cause I actually did all sorts of things, but on a whim, I went to see if my scores were up. Because of the whole confusion about the time and date thing.

So I went.

And I passed.

I got my diploma.

AIEEEE!

Anyway, because of the confusion, my mom woke me up early (which was around eleven, but, you know. less than ten hours of sleep is... not so good for summer) to check the scores, and I said no, but my sister had this thing about trying the funnel cakes at IHOP (...?) so they were going, and I went along.

So we had pancakes and funnel cakes at IHOP, and then we tried out couches at Ethan Allen, and then some other store, and then we went to Sunset Place to see The Devil Wears Prada, and while we were waiting for the showing, we tried out couches at Pottery Barn and Z Gallery, and had shakes at Johnny Rockets.

The movie was good.

Spoilers, kinda. )

And because I'm vain, test scores. )
